Just ordered a Dell XPS M1710. Will have to see how it does when it arrives in a week or so. |

I ran 3DMark06 last week and got somewhere in the range of 3400 on my new machine (it is a laptop ![]() Arindel, if you got that score from that test then that's pretty good. They want the current version to last a while, so it's really punishing, especially on the CPU. |

Thanks Obo. I was more than pleased with the performance in WOW. lowest I got was 35fps in a 40 man instance with everything going off. I can live with that ![]() |

You'll need to upgrade to Windows Vista for that anyway. It needs DirectX 10, which will be Vista only. |

you know i was reading more on toms hardware and it doesn't look like AGP loses much at all versus pci...it looks like the biggest deal is that HDR 3.0 support or whatever which the 7 series nvidia cards can handle (but not at the same time as anti aliasing apparently) and is really used by the 3DMARK06 application to benchmark so i may be able to upgrade my graphics card one more time for vista / dx10. i currently have an x800 xt which only does HDR2.0 i think. where the break point comes is with my cpu...its started to chug recently and i'm not sure why (looking into extraneous processes, etc) its an athlon 64 2.5 Ghz so it should be fine, but its not but $300 for a graphics card and $500 for another new cpu...and its a new comp for me...at that point the delta is too small to justify an upgrade. |
