Delta Upsilon eh? I think they had a house at the college I went to, it was off campus though, and unofficial as pertains to greek row. I was with Phi Mu Alpha (we had no house). But we rocked! literally. |

I was in one. It was one of the best choices I made... the second was to keep the balance between drinking, partying, studying, women, sports, ROTC, and after school jobs. The ability to work (and work well) with 60 other men in stressful situations isn't taught in many places. Conflict avoidance/resolution skills are paramount in today's business society. Also knowing how to trust others, and figuring out who you should and shouldn't trust pays off big dividens later. Just make sure you don't cross the line into thinking that you're only there to have fun... you should be there to learn both intellectually, physically, and socially. I still meet with my brothers about once/month, go to weddings, etc. I'm working on getting one brother's company a $4mil contract... so those social ties will stay with you for a long time. |

Im a sophmore and joined Delta Upsilon Im a Delta Upsilon Alum, Michigan Tech Chapter, 1984 (ya Im old) I helped form the chapter up there and went back for the Chapter initiation about 4 years after I left, it took us 10 years to go from colony to chapter, and yes, I keep in contact with a lot of folks I met in my fraternity. I knew a few DU's from Michigan State as well, from back in the 80's. We had brothers in both chapters back then so roads trips to MSU we quite common ![]() |

Cordlais and I were in the same frat, Phi Mu Alpha, MH chapter. But we don't really count. PMA is a professional music frat and therefore our dues were only $90 a semester rather than the $200-$500 for real frats. So I guess you could say we still bought our friends, but they were much cheaper friends. Oh... some other major differences between us and real frats, We never got drunk and violent (we definitely got drunk enough, just not violent) and we never had more than 2 or 3 hot chicks dating our members. (We did get our pick of the marching band girls though... for what that's worth), we didn't really haze the new guys, and since we were a music frat we weren't homophobic. (As a matter of fact, we probably had more gays in our frat than the GBLSU) With all that said, PMA was a great experience. All the guys got along pretty well and we had some great times. I think that the fact that we all had music in common really helped us bond. If I had any advice it would be to be sure that the frats that you look into have a lot of cool guys that have more in common than the desire for sex and beer. |

Phi Delta Theta here .. loved it. Great group of guys. I would do it all over again if given a second chance. I would not opt out of a good frat if given the chance. |

As a foreighner I find it difficult to understand the fraternity society. I've been told that it is some sort of brotherhood within college but nothing more than that. Could anyone tel some more about about it? (Of course I just go into Wikipedia and look for it, but other might not ![]() |
