Anyone planning on upgrading? I guess technically it is not an upgrade more than an install.
personally I have no plans. Maybe in a year or so but certainly no time soon.

Microsoft Rule #1

Always wait for Service Pack #3  on operating systems.

I've been toying w/ buying a new machine lately. I can't decide if I'd rather get one now or wait until Vista comes with the machine. I wonder also how prices will move too.

Seems MS has done a lot to convey the impression that Vista will be good for gamers. Not that I believe any of that but they are more into games now. But I supposed it's always a good idea to wait.

That whole Vista DirectX10 / graphics card compatibility has left a bad taste in my mouth. So at the moment it's 'screw them'.

I am mess with it at work.... more just to get familiar with it. At home, no plans anytime soon... I agree with Arindel, however nowadays I will be willing to let Microsoft off with SP1.

I'll agree with DF.
As long games work on XP it's fine for me.
Besides my comp can't run vista...

interesting article. I guess Ballmer is blaming pirate copies for poor sales. The comments on Digg are right on IMO

I think they need to realize that the majority of people dont upgrade OS's unless they buy a new machine. IF its not broke...people dont fix it...

yeah that is a good point. Vista is 'nice' but by no means 'necessary' . I remember when they rolled out 95 and even XP they made a huge deal out of it. I think only those that are even remotely in the loop even know about Vista.

I have only seen 1 TV commercial and it only highlights the flash and polish stuff. Bottom line for me is that the tech writers call it 'just ok' and 'nothing critical' so therefore I will probably update to it within a year but I am in zero hurry to drop hundreds of dollars on something that will have no impact on the way that I do everyday things. I'd but I Wii first!

I'll get it with a new machine, definitely not before.

Bought my mom a new Dell, which came with Vista. I don't mind it after all her old programs got patched up properly.

She, nor I, need Vista, its just what came with the Dell.

TWIT-talk

A very funny satirical story about the first day using Vista.
