To be honest, I lost interest in Lost this season. I still watch it because I want closure, but IMO the series isn't as good as when it first started. There are a few parts I liked about the finale though. When Hurley drove the truck and ran that guy over (forgot his name), that was pretty awesome. It just seems that every episode opens up more questions, and not much answers. Who was that in the coffin at the funeral Jack attended?

I wonder what's in store for the next season. Will the season be about the survivors off the island? Was the future in the finale the real future, or just showing why Jack would be mistaken if he leads them off the island? I personally don't see the show moving off the island... that would be too weird.

Spoiler Alert!

I agree with you Thermoon. I still watch the show but have been quite frustrated with it for a while now. I want answers damnit! hehe I thought this season started out really slow and, for me, was more difficult to get involved with.

However, the last 4ish shows have really had my head spinning once more.

Last night was a good show but again, I was hoping for a bit more info. I have quite a few big questions. Here is a big one that is really bugging me..

1) Why was Jack's Dad alive in this "flash forward"? He made two reference's to Christian (his Father). One was at the pharmacy and the other was at the hospital.. IE: Call my father down here, if I've drank more than him you can fire me...

What is the deal? He can't possibly be that strung out, that he "forgot" his father died. And he DID die, his body was on the plane when it crashed. I don't believe they ever showed the body but they did show Jack identifying the body at the morgue. hmmmm

To answer your question, Thermoon..

Who was in the coffin?

I believe it was Ben or Locke. Granted, both are the type you could see NEVER leaving the island. In the event of a rescue, they would find a way to stay. However, they are both keys to the Island. They know more than they say and they have an uncanny connection to the Island as well.

Neither one would have many friends or family to speak of. No one would care to go to Ben's funeral, for sure. As for Locke, perhaps people are angry at what he has done-- is yet to do-- to keep them from being rescued? Perhaps in this later time, he has no friends left.

Also, neither are "friend or family" to Jack.

Biggest reason, imo, is the death of either one would give a sort of finality to Jack's dream of returning to the Island. If anyone could find a way back, it would be one of them. Thus explaining Jack's emotional response. With the death of either one, espeically Ben, his only hope is now a random crash.

So.. I'm leaning toward Ben.

But that also begs the question...
If Ben is there (off the island), why isn't he in jail???

Hehe, I've had wayyyy to much time to ponder this stuff over my morning coffee!

Ok, I'm back.. hehe

MORE SPOILER AHEAD!!!!!!!!

I swear, I'm not obsessed! Lost is one of the only shows I can't figure out 10 mins into an episode so a lot of their shows keep me coming back since, most the time, they are less than predictable. This finale is especially frustrating...

Bill and I were chatting and he thinks that Jack WAS so out of it, that he would refer to his father as if he was living. That perhaps Jack is seeing his Father's "ghost", like in one of those earlier episodes where he seemed haunted by him. Coupled with his drinking/pill popping.. he would speak about him as if he's living. (I say, no wai  )

I keep coming back to this part of the story. I feel like it's a big clue. Ok, say the Dad wasn't really dead to begin with. That would be lame and I would be forced stop watching. hehe

However, lets assume he really is dead. Then how is he in the future? We can't really say this is a look of what happens when they get off the Island. We also can't say this is some kind of parallel outcome if they get off the Island one way vs another. As if they were meant to stay and learn something before leaving ect.. Either way, it doesn't add up. His Dad is dead before they ever crash.

The only thing I can think is that last night's episode was a flash forward but also, a flash back. In the "future" there are no other charaters mentioned aside from Jack and Kate. So we really have no idea what happened to anyone else. We assume, rightfully so, that the body in the coffin and the "he" that Kate mentions are also suviors but still, we don't know which ones.

Did the call Jack made to the ship set some sort of doomed rescue into motion? Did something go wrong when the "rescuers" came onto the Island? Were they bad guys? Or were people simply left behind. Did Jack somehow learn that it was his decision to call that caused all this bad stuff to happen? Perhaps he will later be told by Locke or Ben, who both seemed to know that the call shouldn't be made. If something was revealed to him, once he got back did his guilt cause him to spiral out of control? And now he can think of no other way to fix things than to try to get back?

Maybe he found a way to go back or WILL find a way (season 4?). And the Island stuff that we're seeing is his second time around or the first still? There is definetly some freaky stuff with the Island. Maybe theres some kind of time warp.. time travel thing going on.

Time travel would explain a few things, come to think of it. Remeber Ben's flashback episode a couple weeks ago. He ran into Richard (the "suit" of the others) in the forest when he was clearly a young teen. Anyone else notice that Richard looks exactly the same? Only difference was his hair is longer in the past. Bill thought the show just did a bad job of trying to make him look younger but, imo that would be a really big oversight for a show this big.

Since Ben was a teen it would have to have been, maybe 20 years ago? But Richard looks exactly the same in current episodes. It couldn't be the Island because people have aged.. Ben, his daughter ect.. But not Richard. Hmm

Ok, I'm done.. thanks for reading all that crap! LOL

Ben and his daughter are outsiders... not "Original Inhabitants" of the Island. I think Richard is something different... no idea what.

The future flashes are teasers into a possible future outcome... no way of knowing if that is what WILL happen... it just could happen.

I have given up trying to figure out the show, I just wait for them to tell me the next jacked up story snippet and enjoy the ride.

Oh, and the girls are pretty all right looking too, hehe...

Bill and I have also discussed the "native Islanders" idea as the reason Richard hasn't appeared to age. I agree, it's a good theory.. more than possible but I'm not convinced the Island has "healing" powers as it seems to...at face vaule. I have another idea but as to not sounds nuts, I'll leave it at that. LOL

When you say.. the future flashes are possibilites, I would totally agree to a point. IF it weren't for the Dad thing.. If you look at it from that angle then it's saying it's possbile his Dad will come back from the dead. hehe And I guess the most likey theory is that his Dad was never dead to begin woth. However, I just can't buy that.. yet. This show has been pretty good about things like that. I may even search out an interview where a producer said there would be no soap opera tactics, like people coming back from the dead.. in reference to Boone being knocked off.

One more thing... the girls are pretty! (Boys are way cuter though hehe) I have to say though.. I can't stand Kate anymore. I've seen a few interviews with her and since.. I find her annoying. She just didn't seem very nice. lol Hate how you're brain connects that stuff subconsciously

Yeah, first of all who isn't sick of Kate's storyline.

SPOILERS

I'm not going to delve into the whole issue with the flash-forward as opposed to the flash-back. The best part of the episode was seeing how Sawyer had changed after killing the man who ruined his life. He killed Tom despite having him surrender. That was my fav part of the episode, seeing how he has become just an awful person. Locke did that to him raising more questions about the coffin.

Also, this whole show would make a helluva lot more sense if Ben would just answer why. Instead of "I can't" Nothing makes any sense because nobody tells anybody anything sometimes I feel like I'm just watching an island full of idiots. Also nothing was revealed about the fate of the people who were taken away by the others "We're here to watch" What the hell was that? But it seems that the characters are so stupid on the show the only natural response is to scream at them until they leave instead of asking what that means. I still love the show I just get frustrated with it sometimes.d

I actually like Sawyer more now that he is no longer conflicted. Tom came to kill them. He "gave up"... but I agree with Sawyer.. he didn't mean it..

BLAMMO !!

Way to go Sawyer.
