I'm pretty certain this is real. The one thing that is hard to determine is the resolution of the displayed image. It seems to me that the screen was little more than a projected image. The touch-screen part of the tech is very cool but personally, I wouldn't want to have to do voice commands. Voice recognition remains very much in it's infancy unless you're willing to 'train' the VR system. Despite all that, there's huge potential for touch-screens in many genres of gaming, IMO.
Back when I was playing Eve, touch screen gaming was something I really, really wanted to try. I went so far as to contact a few people in my company to try to get a touch screen on loan (some of our products use Planar touch screens) but no dice.
If I ever get my hands on a touch-screen, I'd probably give Eve another try just for the fun of it.
