Avian Leadership Committee

Our Mission:
Our mission is to make Avian Gamers Network a name associated with honorable players, and to create a community of like minded gamers where everyone has the opportunity to learn and experience fun, new games.

Our Purpose:
Avian Gamers Network is an organization built on a foundation of Unity, Loyalty, Honor and Respect, by a group of mature, like-minded individuals. Our goal is to continuously improve the lives of each of our members in any way possible. No member should ever feel "alone", knowing that at any moment of need, he/she has their fellows to turn to for aid.

1.0) Structure

1.1) Elections
The Leadership Committee shall consist of three Committee Members elected from the general membership of Avian. Any member of Avian Gamers Network who is not a current Wing Leader may nominate himself or herself during the one week Nomination Period. All members may then vote for any three separate candidates during the one week Election Period. The three candidates receiving the most votes shall become Committee Members for the next term. In the case of any ties that would make it impossible to select only three candidates, a one week run-off election shall be held between the tied candidates, and the candidate with the highest votes shall become a Committee Member.

1.1) Wing Relations
All Wing Leaders shall be included as non-voting members with full access to the Committe forum. Committee Members shall have access to all Wing forums.

1.2) Term of Office
Committee Members shall serve for a term of four months. There is no limit on the amount of terms a Committee Member may serve.

1.3) Removal from Office
A Committee Member may be removed from office if the membership believes that member is neglecting his or her responsibilities or abusing his or her position. Any member may publicly move to remove a committee member. If a total of three additional members support said motion, a vote lasting two weeks shall then begin on the same board. The Committee Member shall be removed if there is a simple majority in favor of removal.

1.4) Replacing Committee Members
In case any Committee Member steps down or is removed from office mid-term, a new Nomination Period will begin, followed by a new Election Period to determine a replacement. Any replacement will serve only until the end of the original term.

2.0) Responsibilities

2.1) Creating New Wings
The Committee shall be responsible for assisting in the creation of new Wings in Avian. Any member may start a petition for a new Wing on the Private Issues forum, which will be approved when at least six Avian members have signed their interest and intent to participate in the new Wing. The Committee will then have the site administrators create forums as needed for the new game, and members of the new Wing will write a charter laying out the process of selecting Wing Leaders and governing the Wing. The Committee will work with the Wing members to ensure that the new charter supports Avian principles of democracy and support of casual play. The final charter must be approved by majority vote of the Committee.

2.2) Closing Wings
The Committee shall close Wings upon receiving a unanimous request for closure from all members of that Wing. The Committee may also motion to close any Wing thought to be inactive by posting a thread in the Wing's forum. If any member objects to the closure, the forum shall remain open. If no member objects within one month, the forum shall be closed.

2.3) Wing Leader Discipline
The Committee shall be responsible for overseeing the behavior of Wing Leaders to ensure that they uphold Avian principles. Any member of Avian may file a complaint against a Wing Leader. The Comittee shall investigate the matter by opening a discussion thread and requesting statements from the Wing Leader and the member filing the complaint, and any other involved members. After hearing these statements, the Committee shall decide by majority vote whether to issue a warning, remove the Wing Leader, or take no action. Warnings shall remind the Wing Leader of Avian's principles. Any Wing Leader that would receive a third warning during their term shall be removed from office, and be replaced according to that Wing's charter.

2.4) Discipline Referrals
Wing Leaders may refer disciplinary proceedings for members of their Wings to the Committee. The Committee shall investigate the complaint and vote whether to take no action, issue a warning, remove the member from their Wing, or remove the member from Avian Gamers.

2.5) Changing the Government
The Committee shall be responsible for changing its own structure and responsibilities if necessary. Any changes must be approved by unanimous vote, and then approved by a simple majority vote by the general membership lasting at least two weeks, conducted on the Private Issues forum.

2.6) Applications
Prospective members of Avian may apply through the Wings according to the Wings' charters. Prospective members not applying through a Wing may submit an application to the Committee, which shall be approved or denied through a majority vote. New members shall be granted access to the Private Issues board, and be able to run for and vote in elections.
