first avian with an iphone. Yeah that makes me a huge loser i know. Bought at 6:45pm 45 min after went on sale. Number 103 in line. Oh and this post was done on my iphone! Woot!

I was curious if you had to by the AT&T plan with the iPhone. Is that true? Or can you opt for your current service to be switched to the phone? Looks pretty neato though.

as far as i know you have to get At&T plan for 2-years to activate the phone, apparently by hooking it up a computer and using itunes to buy the plan. all this info is from G4 though, so it may not be correct. i'll wait for the next generation but grats anyway jason!

yeah you need the attar plan however it cost the same as my sprint plan did same minutes plus rollover which I didn't have before and unlimited data and email. My one bummer is only 200 twxt messages. With the ease of testing that you have I can see that being a needed upgrade

Honestly thought all in all this this ispretty damned awesome. I just typed this message on the iPhone just slightly slower than I would have on a keyboard

If you have unlimited data, just get the gmail app. I use that all the time with my BB - very handy.

where do you find the gmail app? iPhones do not have java or flash sadly. Also all "widgets" are safari based

i heard a news thingy about it, and what i heard its basicly a mobile phone that can browse the internet, nothing new

and if it can't do flash or java, theres no real need for a mobile phone to go online right?

i hope for you that updates are free :)

how's the surfing been when not in a wi-fi spot? I read that the iphone only runs on ATT's 2.5G netwrok...not the newer 3G.

Also how's your coverage?

Coverage seems fine. Surfing from home on my WiFi is just amazingly fast. The Edge network is truly, truly crap. At best all you can do on the Edge network is a very quick map check or something. Surfing is out of the question.

From all we are getting from inside our company there is a big fat patch coming (as expected there would be) so fix a lot of the 'small yet annoying issues'. the Edge network will need to be addressed if the iPhone is to be truly successful. That, I'm sure, won't happen until the fall at the earliest.
