Post subject:  Fantasy Football 2007
Are you ready for some football!? We're kicking off the 6th year of the Avian Football League (AFL) and looking for some gridiron giants to join us. Every Avian is welcome! I will once again be performing the Commissioner duties for our Yahoo! based league.

Last year we had 14 teams competing in the ultimate fantasy bragging rights, with The Sammichs (owned by dbakke) defeating The Snarling Dawgs (owned by nasiobo) in the Super Bowl last December. A cool new feature that Yahoo! has added is I was able to link the past 4 seasons (2002-2006) of the AFL with this new one. So you can quickly look back at who finished 1st, or last in 2002. I wasn't able to find the 2001 season so maybe they didn't keep records back then.

The league is up, see below how to sign up and the draft is in late August. So get pumped, relive those glory days, avenge looses, create new rivalries and enjoy your time trash talking to fellow Avians :P

You know The Criticals with our "rebuilding year" done, will be back.

Make sure you check the Live Draft Time, Pre-Rank your players, check the scoring system (right now its the same as last year's) and start mouthing off if you think you're hot shit :lol:

if/when sluggy and arindel join up we will have only 10 teams. we've never had less than 14 as long as Ive been around, so anyone in the wow section want to tap some players? I would but they tend to only like people of their own kind :wink:

we got plenty of time, 24 days i think, just would rather have numbers now than have to scramble, beg and do horrible, horrible things at the deadline.

ok 9 players just isnt acceptable so im gonna start getting in peoples faces by sending PMs since the email don't work (and whats up with these new members not listing any contact info? like email :? )

I'll work on that tomorrow, but this needs to be taken care. I don't want to see this great avian tradition (stroke that ego :wink: ) slowly die...

Yes. You can prerank them.

obviously the only downfall would be if there was a run on a certain position.

Oh not me. It's my rampaging horde of feral gophers that want, actually hunger for face eating. It's all but impossible to stop them.

12 teams so far, I saw Davni signed up.

I currently have 1 player who is interested but needs to be taught a few things about fantasy football, the rest of the invitations I sent (except for Gophers) havent gotten a response. And we need an even number of teams to start the league so hopefully someone else will reply to the invitation :D

Looking good though, same rules as last year. I hope thats ok with everyone.

another update: with 5 days and 6 hours to go until draft time we still have 1 open spot. As far as I know the only person who has expressed interest is Sluggy (although I think Cyrus would join us if he showed up).

However, if you know of someone who is interested send them to me so we can get this all squared away.

with just a few hours until draft time, I thought I would just lay out what I'm thinking will be the plan if we don't get that 14th (Sluggy) person signed up in time. I'm thinking the best move would be to postpone the draft. I don't want to do it, I like the draft time and I have gotten thumbs up and thumbs up but I don't see any other viable option.

I'll keep checking the boards, every hour or so.

EDIT: I also think sluggy wouldn't mind if we found a last min 'replacement'. SO if theres anyone who wants to ride in on a white fantasy horse (join the league this year), now would be the time. :lol:

i appreciate trying to help Royur but we can't exactly go back in time to do the live draft. So, the current draft time will remain.
