A few questions about buying games via Steam:

1. Do I essentially get a large install file for the 5 games that I can then burn to a disc for storage purposes or how does this thing work? I thought

2. Do I always need the Steam program up and running in order to play the games DL via Steam? I notice it uses a good chunk of RAM while it is operating and wonder what impact that would have on performance once the game is loaded up too.

3. I read that games are linked to your account. So does that mean that if I got a new cpu, I would just have to reinstalled the Steam engine and re-DL and purchased games?

Sorry for the noobness, I am so used to retail boxing.

1) DL and install Steam.

2) DL and install any of the games you've purchased (they're all listed under the "My Games" tab as either Installed or Not Installed - clever, huh? :P).

3) Uninstall one if you want/need to (or play from a different computer) - you can reinstall any game that's listed in your "My Games" list. I have yet to reach a limit on the number of times but I've installed CS only 5 or 6 times.

4) Once games are installed, you can start them via a shortcut. I think Steam starts up but only for a short time, just enough to validate your installation. I believe there is a way to play the come without Steam starting up at all (except for games like CS, DoD, TF2) but I haven't tried it out.

Thanks Rocky. I'll give it a shot either tonight or tomorrow.
