lol this would be just in time for my return to the states. Danyale and the interior decorator are supposed to have my office completely redecorated upon my return.

Someone hint to her that I need that monitor.

Thanks for the post Rocky. I've been looking for a pic of that since I read about it earlier this week.

As far as the price goes, my understanding is that it will have the Alienware name on it at release and be well over $1500. A Dell rep I spoke to yesterday said they are rumored to be just under $3000, but he also said Dell has been known to intentionally start rumors on pricing to create buzz.

A version with the Dell name on it could be available as early as December, depending on how good sales are for the Alienware model, and how fast they can get the components' cost to drop.

I just bought a Sharp Aquos LC32GP1U 32" 1080p LCD Gaming HDTV for my Containerized Living Unit in Djibouti. I don’t have cable out here, so I’m using it as a sweet ass Monitor... I needed something better than my laptop screen to watch DVDs on.

Maybe it is not as Uber as Rocklar's find... but Im loving it.

I just realized that I never posted pics of my TV. Here are some pics of my TV as well as the rest of my Containerized Living Unit (CLU). Djibouti at its finest

definately interesting housing, almost spacelike..., they look NOTHING like dumpsters at all!

You don't leave the monitor at an angle like that do you? seems like it would kill your neck.

Probably grabs the controller (PS3) and plays/watches movies from bed.

So I'm assuming you have to use an outhouse or other facility for your toilet/shower. But is that a kitchenette on the other side of that partition?

[edit]Nevermind. Just realized it's the 'closet' shown in your last pic. lol

At first I was in a military furnished CLU. They are 40ft Conex boxes, divided into two living areas. We live one man per area, but the military has two men per area. Those did not have water, so you had to walk to the bathroom. For every 24 living CLUs there was a 25th Conex fitted with showers and toilets. It sucked, but did not suck as much as I originally thought.

Now I am living in a camp built by my company, for my company... but still to military specifications. My new CLU has a bathroom in the center which I share with the guy living on the other side of my CLU. It is much better... plus I now have internet access in the new CLU, the old ones won’t get internet for another few months. There is a lavatory in the living area in addition to the one in the bathroom. I thought that looked weird so I rounded up too wardrobes and make a partition to hide the lavatory. On the other side of the partition I build a closet, because the wardrobes are not large enough.

There is a docking station on the desk. I plug my laptop into it and run dual monitors. If I am typing I use the laptop because it is at the proper angle. But when I watch movies, podcasts, or play PS3 I usually sit on the bed.

My lady is safe at home in Louisiana. In town one can get a “lady” at the club for less than $30. They hunt us Americans down like wild game. It is literally 30 to 1 in the clubs, so it is nothing to be tackled as you enter the door. It is really pathetic… No wonder the continent has an AIDS epidemic.
