If we ever actually put together a formal Avicon, I'm quite positive the result of it would include something on this magnitude of geek coolness. Enjoy.

well Yak, Acritus and I are planning an Avicon here in DC very soon. However, we have made a pretty strict rule that only the cool kids are invited. Incidentally only this dude named Rod will there and currently Rod is refusing to tell the three of us where 'there' is.

That was pretty damn cool. Now, they may have mentioned it, but how did they get the robot? was it only $1000?

Nuff said, thanks for sharing....

Is it just me, or does 80 feet not sound like all that far to throw a bowling ball with a robot arm that size?

And why couldn't WE get something like this at the Orlando Avicon? We could have at least thrown Cordalis across the room ... or something.

That was only the initial throws.
When they adjusted the arm to throw a lower weight, from the original 150 kg or pounds (wasn't that attentive) to the equivalent of a bowling ball they passed the 100 feet to 120 feet.
