So the decision was announced for no PC version of Madden 09 - on the basis of the "very serious business challenges", and the belief that console versions were preferred by most gamers. Obviously as its coming out for the 360 a pc port of the game truly would not be overly costly.
As someone who plays the PC version of the Madden games I truly prefer the PC versions, it allows for user generated content such as logos/helmets and teams, as well as updated rosters. The ease of managing a franchise is much easier via a mouse as well. If the concern is playing games with a keyboard and mouse, buy a $20 logitech gamepad.
There has been a lot of speculation that the PC gaming market is slowly dieing for a number of reasons, pirating being one of them.
As far as piracy goes look at WoW, one of my friends recently started playing on private servers and while they seem to be legit if you own a legal copy of the game...lets be honest most the people that play on them do not. With the ease of pirating a game except for online games (and online steam games). Personally I don't think that the majority of piraters would actually ever go out a buy the game, but still you have to wonder the effect on PC gaming.
