Just wanted to start a thread where anyone following the news coming out of E3 could post their excitement for whatever new game has their attention and what they think of some of the big announcements coming out this week.

To start, I am stoked for the following games due out by Holiday 2008:
1. NHL 09
2. Fable 2
3. Gears of War 2
4. Spore
5. Call of Duty: World at War
6. Halo Wars (due out Spring 2009)

As for the system conferences, I have only watched the MS one thus far and overall I'd say I was rather meh about it. Big surprise to hear that FF XIII will be coming to the 360, after many believed that series would always be a Playstation exclusive.

The stuff the 360 is doing to be also appeal to the casual crowd (the party system to even watch videos/ listen to music, the avatar system, etc. doesn't excite me, mostly becuase I don't watch vids/ play music on my 360 to begin with so have no need to apply it to a social community. I guess it will be good for those younger chaps that are more connected than I so I'll just go with the flow.

Hope to watch the PS and Nintendo conferences tonight.

I was actually reading some stuff on fable and it actually sounds very cool so that might be a possibility if/when it hits PC...and of course spore...

I saw an X-play podcast about Fable 2 last night. I am very interested. I hope my playlist starts filling up with E3 podcasts. I also want to see more about StarCraft2 and Diablo3. And whatever Bioware is doing with their secret MMO.

Saw the Nintendo conference, and was not impressed. Too much focus on the casual gamer for my liking. My wife however, was impressed with a few of the showings (the Wii Fit board snowboarding game, Animal Crossing, and some music one). They did show a SW Clone Wars game that looked interesting in using the Wii motion controls for force powers.

Also skimmed through Sony's. Similar to MS's touting them as catering to both the "core" gamer as well as the casual. Also trying to tout many exclusive titles and that as an entertainment HUB for the household, the PS3 is unrivalled. While Resistance 2 looked amazing, nothing else blew my mind that would drive me to pick up a PS3. Very impressive stats for the PS2 9 years into its lifecycle tho, and well over 100 titles set to release for the PS2 in 2008. Wow.

Overall, the console wars are still about personal choice. I still think MS has the edge in terms of software quality and overall appeal to the core gamer. Wii has the casual market in a stranglehold, and I don't think the proposed offerings and changes offered by MS and Sony are going to put a dent into that share holding. If anything, they are just going to increase the overall volume of casual gamers, but Wii will still be the king.

Fallout 3 looks great, that's what I'm most interested in in the next few months. I'll be playing Fallout 3 on my 360, where it will look great without a $300 upgrade.

Jen is interested in Spore... Satan better get a jacket.

Fable looks amazing. Gears looks to be more of the same... which is good, but I'm not creaming over it yet.

I only posted console stuff because that is what I have seen thus far at the big conferences.

I guess Fallout 3 will also be on PC but I dunno if I am all that excited for it.

Still waiting to see if there is some Starcraft 2 details released.

tried Fable TLC...wow awesome game...well maybe not awesome but very similar style to KOTOR/II in style and I really enjoy it. Fairly open world - to some degree. I wish there were more games in this kind of Single Player RPG with open worlds...lots of fun

its the PC version/extended version TLC=The Lost Chapters adds some content such as the ability to expose lady grey and choose not to marry her, as well as some new weapons/chests/keys and other quests
