No US pricing yet, however the EURO pricing equates to about $20 US dollars (12.99 euros). Release is scheduled for Sept. 18th.

$20/month seems way too high, especially when you think they have to compete against WoW.

I seriously need to read some reviewd on this (hopefully from any Avians that get in beta) to see if it is warranting a purchase. At that price it better be damn good.

Not even going to try it, waiting for wrath of the lich king here which is supposed to be out in Q4, just playing wow and sticking to it at this point.

same thought that...the price for US customers is going to be a major turnoff for many people.

Whats this game like? is it a WoW/EQII clone?

I wish I could say I'm interested, but I'm just not.
I would really like to dive into a new MMO but I honestly think I am done with the fantasy genre for now.
WoW is still a fantastic game and the reports I hear of WotLK are just phenomenal. The only thing I can see that Warhammer can offer is RvR - which to some of the diehard Ultima players, is probably going to prove very interesting.

I'll try it for sure, but it'll have to be good to take away from my wow time.

Mythic is a good company and I'm hopeful that the $20 a month will scare away some of the kids, but in the end it isn't really that much. I don't see how 6-7 dollars more a month is that big of a deal if it's a good product.

So was that a misprint previously? Or are they bending the euro-players over?

Probably the latter. It looks like they're charging the same figure in both dollars and euros.

They are not exactly bending the Euro player over.

Prices are always a little different from one Continent to another, due to logistics, market conditions as well as the different business laws in each country.

They usually charge more, in adjusted dollars, in Europe due to Tarrifs, distribution, and the cost of leasing localized Servers, since most MMO's are run as American businesses, due to the legal freedoms and financial benefits they receive. Although I'm not sure if this would apply to Warhammer, as I thought this was being produced in Europe.

$5 a month is bending people over?

Like I said, I'm going to give it a try. Much of what I've read says it's pretty polished. The RvR looks good and the classes seem, at least a little, different from standard fare.

As MGJ said the quoted prices for Europe and US were ridiculously close 12.99 and 14.99 with the crappy exchange rate atm 1 Euro is worth $1.50 if they both are paying the same price it sucks for the user of the Euro because essentially it ignores the value of their currency

I don't see that as being outrageous I guess. I doubt either way that it'll impact subscription numbers, especially if the product is at least decent.

Been reading about it a bit this morning. Warrior Priest looks pretty cool.

I am going to do some more reading about it and I am cautiously optimistic about it bringing a bunch of Avians together in one game again.

Gamespy.com as people in the beta and are providing some reviews.

Here's that Gamespy.com write up:
http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/warhammer-online/895250p1.html

Its long (27 pages) but does a very good job in describing the feel of the game from I think 4 difference beta testers, each with different MMO backgrounds, and different playstyles/preferences (eg. PvE vs PvP).

Overall, it seems like WAR has the potential to be a good game. The underlying stories and backgrounds sound top notch and really bring you into the world. The group player quest functionality also sounds very cool and perfect for some pick up play action, and something to introduce PvE-minded players into the PvP aspect.

The only critique at this point is the frame rate during large battles which drop to single digits. If that gets fixed, all the Gamespy posters claim WAR will be a hit.

Note: EA Store will now be sending out codes to all SE Pre-Order customers each week starting August 13, 2008.

Hopefully you will get your codes soon. The Open Beta client can be downloaded on 8/18 but I am thinking Open Beta does not start until after the Preview Weekend (this is for CE owners and the first 50,000 SE owners who have registered their codes) so the earliest OB will start is next Monday 8/25 .. this is all an guess. And since I am guessing, I do think the NDA will drop on drop tomorrow 8/18 which would be 30 days before the release on 9/18.

I guess I was wrong on both accounts. The official dates are such, Open Beta will start on Sept 7 and the NDA drops tomorrow, Aug 19. There is going to be a ton of new blogs, podcasts, and videos coming out tomorrow about WAR .. I cannot wait :)
