I just moved into a new apartment and my landlord gives me free wireless internet. It has a WEP key but my primary concern his opening my system and my web traffic up for him to snoop.

He is a pretty tech savy guy and I dont want him to track my online traffic, usage or even open my system up for his abuse/perusal. Should this be a concern?

I'm definitely not an expert on this, however I know that if he is controlling the Router then he can snoop the traffic. If you want to keep him from seeing where you surf then you can use one of the services designed to do just that. I can't remember the name of the biggest one, but you basically log into their website and then from there you surf wherever you want and the websites cannot be tracked by your ISP, the router, or even your own computer.

You should be able to protect your system itself with a good Firewall.

Like Guy said, whoever owns the router can log all traffic. I don’t have time to review the traffic through my house; maybe the landlord won’t have time to review yours.

If you are worried, I say buy your own internet service.

Agree with both of them. I you want to make sure nobody is looking through your traffic, get your own router and internet service...
