 I became its latest victim. Anybody else have this problem, and can give me some sort of reassurance that Microsoft will repair this thing and send it back intact and within a reasonable period of time?

I haven't gotten the RROD yet (knock on wood) but did get a different error (something video related).

The customer service rep I spoke with said that normally MS wouldn't cover my error under warranty but he would in my case. Got a Fedex label to print out, plopped my 360 in its box, and couriered it out. I had it back in 3-4 weeks.

Of course I decided to buy a new 360 in the meantime so I could still game. Ended up selling the unit I got back to a co-worker for her husband. The returned unit is still running fine for him as far as I know.

Good luck man. Hope to see you back online soon, well before MW2 comes out.

I sent it in Monday to be repaired, and yes apparently they are repairing it for free. I didn't even have to pay for shipping.

3-4 weeks of no Call of Duty is going to suck royally. I may cave and buy a new one in the meantime.

oh, btw... I thought this quote was an interesting insight into the orientation of Angelus....

hmmm.. trading a gaming system for a used spouse of the same sex seems to be a bit dodgy, but whatever floats your boat man. does your wife know? and where do you keep him?

I was reading something online recently that said somewhere near 40% of xboxes (360's) experianced RROD...kind of a scary statistic if your a xbox owner. Guess its good Microsith recognizes that their product just up and dies and fixes it

That many!? I was told it was "only" a third of them...

I'm on my 4th box now. I normally don't get the extended warranty from Best Buy, but, when i purchased the 360 I had started hearing about this, so, i went ahead. This turned out to be a decent decision b/c each time i was able to walk in and make an exchange. Also, strange enough, which I didn't expect, since I paid a higher price a couple years ago (forgot how much) than what it costs now they actually refunded me that amount! So, I walked out of the store with an extra $50 or so .. forgot how much, but, it was enough for some extra goodies! Still .. fourth box .. i would have gotten rid of it if not for the kids playing it.
