Avian Gamers Network

Hey all. I created a Facebook Group for Avian Gamers Network. It's a semi-private group, so all who want to join need to be approved currently, but I believe all members can invite others, and it is not Invisible/Secret. I'd like to keep from making it completely open if possible so we don't get too much irrelevant stuff on the wall, but if we decide to change that it should be a simple change.

btw, Obo or Cyrus, do we have any Leadership structure in place currently, or is it basically an open group now? If there's no formal structure in place then I will just assign our Admin's here as Officers/Admins in the Facebook Group.

Right now I'm making everyone an Officer, using your AGN Handle as your Title, which will help people get used to all our Facebook identities. All our current Site Admins will also be Admins for the Facebook group. (just to clear things up)

True but I feel he made the right choise in making it semi-private. Keeps it easier to keep unwanted elements out, usuch as spam and small kids who doesn't know what Avian Gamers actually are...

Yup... I still feel Avian is more than a gaming PA/Guild/Corp. I would classify it as a Community of friends.
I almost feel like I am home sitting with friends and classmates who I can have a discussion with from time to time... even though I haven't seen your faces (except for Talon and.... who was it again?) or heard your voices (except for Yak)...

When I said open group I meant it as in no President, no Vice President, no BoD, no particular person must approve Gui’s efforts on the facebook page, nor does a particular member need to be an admin due to their elected position in Avian.

I agree with Azz 100% about keeping it simi-private for all the reasons he listed.

Azz, I completely agree with you on the "group of friends" aspect. I can count on one hand the number of past Avians I do NOT want to meet. Regardless of how I may not have gotten along with a few members in the past I still like them. This group holds an odd place for me. There is no other group of people from my past that I enjoy interacting with as a whole as much as I do with Avians, TCO'ers and Scomp'ers. Personally I've only met 1 Avian (Tetran) in-person, and he wasn't an Avian at the time.

BTW I just checked my PM outbox... only two in it. The latest is my X-box gamertag sent to Tetran and the other is to Locke_Trinmin, a little over four years old, when he decided to leave Avian...

Another thing. I avaragely recieve about 4-5 PM's a year!

One can almost read the fury in the text...
Brings a chuckle out of me from time to time thinking about Avian policy a month after the release of SWG.

Reading through it and reading about the sections and their director makes me think that we as Avian weren't far from beginning a multiple party system where the sections could have been devided in parties like the left and right of real politics.

I didn't post the names for those who have left. I posted the names of those I actually had a great time with...

And I know Dumin's name is on the list but I wasn't around the time he began to loose it. Early in his membershiop here in Avian he was actually a good guy...
later on, when the game had begun he changed. Suddenly the game had becommen a base for competition with other PA's.
I noticed over time that he was spiteful of other PA's and their methods, but he also felt that Avian was somewhat slow.

While he didn't want to make a powergrab/coup d´tat if you will... he often said he was proud of working hard for ATaT.

I wasn't around the "Dumin's PA Hall incident" at the time due to school so I never read what happened in the forums untill afterwards... nor were I in the game so I couldn't have experienced it...

But I would believe that he was disappointed of who were supposed to place the deed for the PA Hall.
When he was kicked out I kept silent, due to the near-flaming discussion in the Private forums at the time, and I was afraid of repurcussions if I attempted to defend him... (I was 16 and not that good with english -> Very insecure in discussion with "big" words")

So that my two cents about that case, abliet 6-7 years after it happened...


Oh! BTW this thread is about applying to Avian Facebook membership...

Gui, your permissions should be fixed. And I came back last fall, after getting married in Japan, and I'm now doing a Master's in Seattle. Still don't have much time to game, although we got a new desktop so the possibility is there. Just doing a little Magic and D&D.
