I was cleaning out my inbox when I came across an article about the Most Anticipated Games of 2013. http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/the ... dium=email I was shocked by two of them: Star Wars 1313 and Elder Scrolls Online. I didn't know anything about them.

Star Wars 1313
(2013; PC, PS3, Xbox 360; LucasArts, Disney LucasArts)

If you have seen anything about this game, anything at all, and you still question why it is on this list, we seriously can’t be friends anymore. There is still a lot of mystery surrounding this game, and no one can even confirm with absolute certainty if it will be on this gen or next, but it is a completely new Star Wars game set within the larger universe but not necessarily in a way we’ve seen before. The new Disney purchase of the Lucas properties could also help to make this game great, as Disney would no doubt like the first game under the Disney LucasArts banner to be a success.

The Elder Scrolls Online
(Mid/late 2013; PC, Mac OS X; ZeniMax Online, Bethesda)

Although the idea of a fantasy setting for an online game built around a massive community isn’t anything new, the Elder Scrolls brand received a massive shot of awesome last year with Skyrim, and the series moved to the top of the RPG food chain. Can it surpass the established MMORPGs already out there? We’ll see. It’s a tough market to crack into (just look at the middling success of Star Wars: The Old Republic). But if anyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, it’s Bethesda.

On March 1, 2013, it was reported that the game had been "on hold" ever since The Walt Disney Company's purchase of Lucasfilm, stating that Disney will focus mostly on Star Wars film-related projects. However, a LucasArts representative reported that "Star Wars 1313 was continuing production".[11]

On April 3, 2013, it was announced that The Walt Disney Company had ceased internal development at LucasArts and laid off its staff, with the exception of a skeleton crew of less than 10 employees which would allow LucasArts to remain open as a licensor.[12] As a result, all projects were shut down, including Star Wars 1313. A Lucasfilm representative stated: "After evaluating our position in the games market, we’ve decided to shift LucasArts from an internal development to a licensing model, minimizing the company's risk while achieving a broader portfolio of quality Star Wars games. As a result of this change, we've had layoffs across the organization."[7] It is possible that Star Wars 1313 may resume development by an external developer, but until that happens Star Wars 1313 remains shelved.[13] Following the halting of internal development at LucasArts, Disney announced an exclusive deal with Electronic Arts to produce Star Wars games for the core gaming market. However, Disney Interactive Studios retained the ability to develop, and LucasArts retained the ability to license, the franchise for the casual gaming market.[14] When asked whether Electronic Arts would continue Star Wars 1313 and Star Wars: First Assault, a representative for the company stated, "We are not announcing any specific titles at this time."[15]

In September 2013 while speaking at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, Lucasfilm chief technology strategy officer Kim Libreri demonstrated a video of motion capture being processed in real-time by the Star Wars 1313 engine and its assets. Using the game's capacities as an example, Libreri suggested that cinematic post-processing might eventually be supplemented or superseded by rendering technologies developed for videogames.[16]

Disney chose not to renew the trademark for Star Wars 1313 at the end of 2013 and so as a result The United States Patent and Trademark Office considers the trademark abandoned.

Actually, they didn't "chose not to renew" the trademark, the STAR WARS 1313 was filed as an intent to use (as opposed to based on actual use of the mark in connection with the goods/services) application and they failed to file a statement of use (evidence that the mark was being used in connection with the goods/services specified in the application) or a request for extension so it was declared abandoned by the USPTO. It never registered, registrations require maintenance 5-6 years after registration and renewal is 10 years after registration.

As far was SW gaming news, there is a Star Wars Battlefront in development at EA (http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthier/ ... ront-game/) on the Frostbite engine (EA's in house system for everything from Battlefield to need for speed). Q2/Q3 2015 release (same time as the new movie).

P.S. that teaser trailer is such BS, it is like a tech demo of snowly landscape with a snowspeeder and AT-AT taking up 5 seconds of screen time.
