I'm still a n00b at crafting (still 1 slot away from master artisian, don't laugh). But has anyone noticed any significant exppoint difference in crafting higher complexity items? I don't notice any difference. I was killing myself making the most complex items to gain points, which was depleting my rescources with the quickness. Then I switched back to making camp kits to get rid of excess animal parts, when I realized I was getting the exact same exp gain. So, needless to say, I sat down and burned up my 700+ inventory of monster points and gained a little less than 10,000 exp in 32 mins! What's the deal? Unless someone tells me different, when I get home from work today I am going to have campsites coming out my ears!

In beta the exp gained was directly proportional to the amount of resources used, not the complexity. I believe there is a bonus for experimentation but don't quote me on that.

I thought I saw the added bit for experimentation added once your were "done experimenting" but I also had a lot of gear out there in use so I can't be certain it wasn't UXP I saw.

I have no idea what experimentation even means!
(shut up, Obo. That's NOT what I'm talking about!)

I get the "Summary" screen, and I see the bottom panels that have "Experimentation 10%" or "Item Quality 0%", but what does that mean? Can I do anything with those? Do I need to highlight one of them? The tips section and the holocron are no help at all. Could someone explain exactly what it means and what I should be doing? I'm just clicking "next" on every screen.

AND! As far as me not following the plan... you can use two crafting tools at once ya know! (ie. using generic tool while surveying and mining) And camp kits only require animal parts!

So, Phhhbbbtttt!!!

Basically...

Experimentation is there to increase the stats on the item you are making (better damage or firing-rate stat for example). But there is a risk involved; if you get a failure, your stats could go down (and you’ve already wasted the resources at this stage).

At the bottom of the experimentation screen there are three panes. On the left is the number of exp points you have available to spend. In the middle is the stats you can spend points on. And on the right is the risk.
You spend the points by clicking on the little rectangles in the middle window beside the various stats. As you spend points, the risk goes up (if you are getting 50ish% risk or higher, you are more than likely to fail, or at best keep the stats as they are). The further you advance, the better experimentation stats your character gets, and so reduced changes of failures. Don’t waste all your points at once. Experiment a point at a time.
Each time you experiment, you also increase the complexity of the item.

I haven’t used experimentation since it was “fixed” late in beta, so I’m not sure how beneficial it is atm, or if there are any changes to better use of it.

Experimintation is the only way to get the best stats.

That is how Gui is making those sweet CDEF's.

If you are a crafter and aren't using experimentation, you are doing it wrong, hehe.

Anson Anson Anson....

/shakeshead at the founder.

:) (actually I did the same thing in beta for a couple days until somebody clued me in).

When I discovered experimentation, crafting became SOOOOO much more fun.

How do I activate experimentation? it seems like it just randomly pops up the experimentation screen. Can I force the process? Explain please.

Use the right crafting tool and (depending on complexity of the item) stand beside a public crafting station (within 5m).

You can only experiment next to a crafting station?
