Hey, if any of you guys do any unarmed fighting, let me know.

I could really use some pointers.

I'm starting to think that the melee guys have it WAY harder than the range kiters.

And what's up with the bonuses to hit creatures with the Hunting Skill only working for ranged weapons? Doesn't that seem a little odd?

Anyway, give me some tips if you can.

Melee is very hard especially unarmed (and especially for a bothan but that's not the question  ). In group newbies marksman won't let you hit the target and in solo there are huge downtimes.

To improve your unarmed damage, you can buy a Vibroknuckler, i found one damage 12-81, speed 3.5 at Bestine for 5000 Cr (pretty expensive).
With that weapon i can hit up to 160 damage instead of 90 with Expert Unarmed.

Yeah, those suckers help ALOT!

Have you seen the damage with berserk?!?

I usually hit in the 300s and even scored a 400+ hit tonight against an RSF with beserk on.

What special attacks do you usually use? I usually just keep berserk on or spin when breaking a camp.

I avoid to use berserk, with my weak Bothan it may be more dangerous for me than for my opponent. Usually i do this combo :

Blind, Stun, then Hit 'til the target is down.

I have a Master Polearm (completed with only a Reinforced Staff) and it was really really hard.

I started picking up rifle becuase I was the only one that got any damage when I was in a group with only ranged players. All the arrgo goes to you, as you are the closest.

Now I have found a great balance. Once I made Master Polearm I would start with the rifle and when/if they got close I switch to the Polearm. It also has some great multi-target point-blank attacks that work great.

As for Hand-to-Hand, that stuff is tough. If that is what you are going for then my hat is off to you. just be sure your insurance is up to date

If you are a master polearms expert, I think that you should train with carbine instead of rifle, since both Polearms and Carbine have the LegShot/LegHit.

Working down one bar on the HAM with a ranged and then working the same bar when they get close would seem like an awesome combo.

But, maybe not. I've never used weapons really.

Can you guys use armor at all?

If so, what traits (HAM and supporting) would be the absolutely most important to not affect negatively? I'm guessing you'd want to keep H, A and their supporting attributes high, but what from among them are say the top three most important to you?
