I can't seem to figure it out. I click sign up now, but I don't see "join an existing league." Hrmm oh well, I'll figure it out. I want to be The Commandos.

Lizard Men was just a temp name until I could think of a good name. Last year I was "The Mighty Gourds" Life of Brian referece (Haggling for Brians Gourd after he got it with the beard he bought). Bicycle Repairmen after the Bicycle Repair Man sketch (world full of Super men/women when someone breaks a bike and Bicycle Repairman is the hero that fixes it). Its a Monty Python thing.
Other names I had thought of:
Norwegian Blues (parrot Sketch)
Knights of Ni (Holy Grail)
The Blancmanges (Flying Circus)

Yes, my addiction to python is a bit... well, much

These are positive they should be negative

And I think waivers should be 2 or 3 days.

And I think return TDs should be a point higher as they are harder to do.

People like me are why I didn't want to be commish

Indeed. Updated score typos to be negative. Increased return TDs to 7 points.

On the waivers, I would be fine with 2 days. That allows players to pick up free agents, and also allows players the chance to pick up players dropped for those free agents before the next games.

Definitely Wermas. Follow the link DF posted, and type in the league ID # and password.

League ID#: 319323
Password: theafl

Then go through it from there. You name your team, pick some other stuff, and pretty much wait for the draft.

It's pretty easy to figure, out but harder to be really good, like knowing that one of your quarterbacks is playing against a weaker pass defense for the week. USA Today has a pretty good football section and it comes out on Friday for the Sunday games. There are MANY online sources to help you.

Ok so I chatted with Marrok and picked his brain about the details of this system. I am new so some of these questions may seem a little noobish.

Quote:
after the draft we stick with the players we selected or do they change each week? then you tade and pick up free agents?

What you draft is what you have. Yep

Quote:
if a player gets hurt I dump him?

Yes, but there's also a non-droppable list, which is new.
It's basically a list of players that can't be dropped from a roster. It's many of the big-time players. It's updated every now and then too. But they can be traded. They basically don't want people dropping all these great players and having anyone pick them up

Quote:
stupid question
the draft is just within our league? So we have the ability to draft any skill posistion player?

Yep

Quote:
can you explain how the defense works?

You pick an entire team's defense, as opposed to individual players. So everything that D does (sacks, ints, TDs, allow TDs, etc.) you get points awarded or taken away for.

Quote:
can you trade teams defense?

Yep. Defense counts as a single player basically, so if you wanted you could fill up your bench with defenses. But that would be really bad.

Quote:
this extra stuff that one pays for, have you ever bought anything?

No, but I've seen it

Quote:
is it just "inside info" and extra stats?

Umm, some is info, one of the things give you realtime stats and tracks your fantasy score realtime And you can check everyone in the league. You can also do things like see what your best score could've been by looking at how your bench players peformed
Otherwise the outcome of the games is shown on Tuesday but its free the 1st week so you can try it out.

Ok I hope this all made sense. Sorry if its difficult to read.

I used the stat tracker last year, and I enjoyed it, but since I may be playing SWG instead of watching the games I may not. Though I do intend to atch a good amount of games this season.

Got another question, when can people stop joining? Right until 30 mins before the draft? Can ppl join after the draft?

I ask this becuase right now only 6 teams are in the league. Just want to know how much time they have, so I can bug them.

Yep. The draft is done in a java applet. There's a chatroom to talk to each other, a timer to countdown how much time you have left to make a choice, the list of your pre-rankings, the list of all players already drafted, and some other stuff. Plenty to look at and keep you occupied. It's over before you know it.

There are going to be 15 rounds, with 60 or 90 seconds per pick (not sure if I can customize this). Overall it'll probably take about an hour to an hour and a half, but it all depends on how fast people make their picks.

And yes, the draft is Wednesday the 13th.

I have about 1900 miles to cover across the US on the 13th. The program will make my picks automatically if I'm not there right?

Yes, it should.

I am wondering can I make my first 5 picks or so and then have the system pick the rest for me? Or is it once you start you have to keep going?

With 13 spots left and 4 days to go should we start bugging people to join?

Marrok said he would send out an in-game email, this should get some of the lurkers.

I was under the impression that the league was filled up last year. I hope we can do it this year also.

If you can't make the live draft, your players will be autodrafted. If you need to leave in the middle, your players will be autodrafted. No need to worry about that.

If you aren't going to be there, make sure to fiddle with your pre-rankings so you can place your personal priorities above the default rankings.
