Am I the only Avian Cubs fan? I mean, wow, I've never been so excited! We're so close!!!

Anyone paying attention to this? It's amazing. We don't suck!

I'm pretty sure almost everyone in the midwest is a Cubs fan, just like everyone is a Bears fan (I'm convinced half the US came from Chicago). I try to not get too excited, cause whenever I do they seem to do poorly.

I just wish The Hawk was still on the Cubs. My fave player of all time.

How can you hate the Braves? A team that has been so good for the past decade not because of exuberant spending and a team of All-Stars like Yankees but because of excellent pitching coach and manager who know where their weak spots are? Don't be hatin' man :)

I <3 Mark Grace. I'm glad he finally got a World Series ring, even if it wasn't with the Cubs. He deserved it. My bro was the Ryne Sandberg fan.

They're good in the sense that the Buffalo Bills were good a while ago. They'd always make it into the playoffs, even the championship game, but fail... :D. And their exuberant spending started when they got Maddox from the Cubs. Their pitching staff was only All-Stars for the longest time. Turner has quite a bit of money to blow...even on a new stadium.

Cubs won't play the Braves in the first round if they win the division at least. Freakin' Houston won though.

Well, I don't like the Braves so they can lose every game from now on and I would be happy. And since Gracie left the Cubs I have gotten on the Kerry Wood, Sammy Sosa band wagon (corked bat and all). Though I still like Grace I just think he should have stayed with the Cubs if he could.

CUBS v REDSOX in the World Series. If that ever happened I would definetly try my hardest to be there.

I actually prefer Seattle over both, but that's getting a little off-topic.

And Harry Carey is amazing. I still have my Harry Carey shirt that's a black outline charicature of his face from after he passed away. I'm pretty sure he's > Chicago + New York.

Lets party like its 1918 (year the Cubs won the World Series). Yes I really, really want to take a pilgrimage to Wrigley.

There are 2 teams in NY, which are you going for? If you say the Yankees well, I will have to beat you with your own shoe and throw many a Trout at you.

Cubs haven't won a World Series in 95 years. You're thinking of 1908 Royur. That was the last time they won. Last time they were in it was in 1945. Last year they won the division was 1989. We're due.

Post subject:

Bah off by 10 years I knew it ended in an 8 and was in the beginning of the century. Side not I found when I checked up to see if you were right about 1908

Quote:
The Cubs became the first team to record three consecutive World Series appearances and two consecutive World Series victories with both championship wins coming off the heels of a record one-hundred sixteen victory season of 1906. In 1908, Chicago's West Side franchise was more than just a winning baseball team, they had just become sports first official "dynasty".

The Cubs were the first sports dynasty. How can you not love 'em?

And Bossman the Mets arn't as bad as the Yankees so I will only beat you with Exar's sandal and throw a hearing at you.

Author:  ExarKun809 [ Sun Sep 28, 2003 11:30 pm ]
Post subject:

Lol, *takes off his sandal* I'll beat him with the other. Mets suck. Sorry, but can't be a Cubs fan and like the Mets. Anyways, you may have been thinking of Boston Roy. They last won it in 1918. That's why I want a Cubs/Red Sox World Series. Wow would that be cool.

The Cubs are 1-1 in postseason now with the Braves. The first game was exciting, but I didnt really like the second, and today the Cubs have homefield advantage. GO CUBS!!!

You know, if it ended up with a Yankees vs. Braves World Series, they might as well disband the league. I'd rather watch the press play against the grounds crew... anyways... the Braves are gonna get pwned anyways, so that doesn't matter too much.

I had always heard that the Cubs were cursed, but I never knew what the curse was, so I found it, and it has been on the news a lot lately.
Quote:
But the so-called curse that really rankles involves a goat. Tavern owner "Billy Goat" Sianis showed up at Wrigley Field for the fourth game of the 1945 World Series with two tickets and his goat, Murphy. When ushers denied Murphy entry, Sianis laid a curse on the Cubs, saying Wrigley would never host another World Series.

3 guys actually found the original goats ancestor and I think they are taking the goat to Wrigley to help remove the curse. I don't know when it may be tonight, I will have to watch tonights game and see if they allow the goat admittance, all I can say is they better let the goat in!!

That is one of the funniest things written around here in a while! Hahaha, bring it on, goat! Go Braves!

Yea, I don't know how you can be a Cubs fan w/out knowin' about the curse. Three Cubs fans already tried to lift it this year when they took a goat to the Astrodome in Houston and they didn't let them in.

So far so good. We'll know for sure if the Cubs make it.

Braves suck...really....really bad. At least for this year.

Author:  Romsuiag [ Fri Oct 03, 2003 5:12 pm ]

I think theyve tried before to lift the curse, but obviously without luck.

Isn't there a "Billy Goat Tavern" outside Wrigley?

Hmmm, the best record in baseball in regular season is sucking in your book? I do agree that their post-season chances are not good, as they have no dominating pitchers anymore, but saying that the most consistent team in baseball, with the best record - sucks - is pushing it a bit far.

CUBS WIN!!! Now they are 1 away!!
Nice 4 errors by the Braves and way to Pitch Prior; allowing only 2 hits on a complete game. The last 2 innings were pretty exciting, but the rest of the game was pretty much a pitching duel.
