I'm torn. I love my PS2. I hate all things Microsoft. But the Xbox is calling my name. I can get a brand spankin new one for less than $60. But in order to get that great deal, I'll have to trade my PS2 and all my beloved sports games. Comparitively, how does NCAA Football and Madden Football rank on Xbox compared to the PS2 versions? Somebody convince me I need the Xbox. |

They look better on Xbox. If you can handle the controller (I hate the small Xbox controller... big one for me please), then I'd say the gameplay on those sports games will be just about the same. Although, some of the games that are online for PS2 aren't online for Xbox (Madden as an example). I personally really enjoy the box, and I'll really say there hasn't been a console experience quite like hooking up 2+ Xboxes for a Halo fest. It beats out all my Goldeneye memories. Personally I would do it. I like the HD. I like the power. I like the big controller (although the DC controller is king). |

Xbox, only really decent controller I've used.. only one that doesn't give my hands cramps. Halo was incredible.... Halo 2 looks orgasmic.. you know what I'm talking about if you've seen the 11-minute long ingame movie of it.. it's so... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I still think that the best controller ever devised is the Sony analog controllers, in use on teh PS2 and the PS1. By far and away it is the easiest, most intuitive controller I have ever used. Unless you have an HDTV, games aren't going to look that much better on your X-Box than your PS2. The X-Box can do a few more things with textures, and pump a few more polygons, but basically you are still limited to your TV resolution, which is ungodly low. If you are playing games on your TV, and that resolution, it really doesn't make that much of a difference. Personally, I'd stick with my PS2. The games are much, much better on there, more to choose from. And Halo will be out on PC soon, as will KOTOR. |

PS4LIFE! But, really, it depends on what games you play. I'm an RPG and sports games kid, so PS2 hands down. Action/adventure, sports games, and multiplayer I'd go Xbox. If the pocket PS or whatever it's called does anything to compete w/ GBA...Nintendo is out of the race. |

Pretty much any of the big games that are on the consoles come out on PC (GTA, Halo, etc.) so at least for me that's not all that much incentive for me one way or another. What else are you wanting besides the multi-platform sports games Talon? |

Haha, that is what Nintendo said about a vcr maker coming into the home gaming system market. ![]() As for X-box vrs PS2... I look at the games- present and future. Right now, I see a lot more games I'm interested on the PS2 then X-Box coming down the road. I've looked at trading in my PS2 as well but X-Box didn't have anything I HAD to play. Plus a lot of those, I'm guessing since the system is made by microsoft, go to the PC later on like it was mentioned. Sometimes I'll wait for them to cross over- like Halo. I'm not going to say "YAH PS2- X-Box suxxors!" because I know both have there advantages. Look at the games, figure out what you'd like to play, and then go from there. |

But, you can put some pretty sweet mod chips in your XBox for running linux on the system, and streming MP3s and video to the box. Also, for some reason, I just love the game Whacked. |

Also, for some reason, I just love the game Whacked. Yes, but why would you really want to do that? I mean, it is fun, simply because you can. But does it really enhance your gaming experience? And if you have the know how to do that sort of thing, you can already do it on your PC, and probably have your PC crosswired with your TV/Home Theater set-up, so it really isn't that big of a deal, either. In a similar vein, for some reason the backwards compatibility that PS2s will play PSX games befuddles me. I actually like it a lot, and that was another reason I did get the PS2 originally, but if you have the PSX games, you already have something to play them on. So that shouldn't really be a big selling point, although, for some reason, it is. |

One of the biggest things I notice about Xbox vs. PS2 is the damn load times. Xbox loads SO much quicker than PS2 does. That's probably THE biggest selling point for me. Also, I have been trying to convince my wife that we need an HDTV for a while now and I think I've about got her worn down. ![]() Now what games should I get first? |

My suitemate has an amazing modded XBox that you can copy games to the HD with, so that you never have to put the disc in once you've copied the game. It's uber-convenient. |

And one more thing pro Xbox is that oft forgotten Internal hard disk. PS2 you have to pay up £30 ($45) for a memory card which is 8MB capacity which maybe holds 10 savegames on it if you are lucky... XBOX has an 8 GB disk which you could technically swap out later for a bigger one....and its included for free....i know which one i'd pick. I have all three XBOX, Gamecube, PS2 and i have to say my favorite for features is the XBOX....i hate myself for it and would consider having myself killed for reccomending a microsoft product but when its the best product... ![]() |

Hmm, well I'd say Halo (no way!), Madden 2004 - or Fever 2004 if playing online is important to you, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Soul Caliber 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta. I had fun with Splinter Cell too. Also the GTA double pack (GTA 3 and Vice City) is coming out next month on the Xbox.

This was also what I was trying to convey is cool about it... guess I forgot to add that sentence. I really enjoy my XBox, but haven't played a single game on it since June 7th when Kharlaq gave me his Beta Buddy key. That bastard. |

Soul Caliber 2 is on all platforms too. Panzer Dragoon Orta is a great game, but not reason to buy XBox. And the load times have gotten 500% better since PS1 and will only continue to get better. And sports games don't have much load time, especially baseball and football. |

I played Ghost Recon on PS2 and Xbox and I have to say that I know first hand the PS2 Load times suck big time compared to Xbox. This is because the processor speed of the Xbox is ... what? like 3 or 4 times faster? and it has more RAM too, right? |

Yeah, Xbox is definitely more powerful. And really, any of the big name titles on any of the systems (except GC) end up on the PC. GTA III and Vice City has always been one of those "reasons to buy PS2," but it's out on PC as well. The PC and console are looked at as different markets, so the smart game makers try and maximize their customer base by bringing stuff out on the PC. Same goes for exclusive games for the console... it's just not done nearly as much as it used to. I know personally I wouldn't want to play Halo on the PC, cause it won't be nearly as fun as on the Xbox. I suppose a LAN game would get close, but it still wouldn't have that "Goldeneye feel." Games play differently between the PC and consoles, sometimes vastly different (Tiger Woods 2004 as an example). And there's no way I'm gonna wait an extra year to play Halo 2... ![]() |

It's my DVD/CD player too, so it's puts it over the top for me. Oh well, in a year or so we'll argue about Xbox2 and PS3 anyways. |

They both seem just about the same on the Xbox and PS2. The big difference is between the consoles and PC. PC version is a lot more of a simulation, and the console versions are more arcade-style. Again, if you're interested in playing online, the PS2 version is, but I don't know if the Xbox version is... I don't think it is. I usually don't even play favorites with any of the systems, or even console vs. PC. If the game is good, I don't care what system it's on (Advance Wars for the GBA owns). The HD and the built-in network adapter basically won it for me for the Xbox. The added bonus is that it has a some more horsepower, so in general everything looks a bit better, and loads a bit quicker. But the SNES is the best system of all time. 'nuff said. |

So that shouldn't really be a big selling point, although, for some reason, it is. It's a matter of folks not having to keep their original PS1 Plugged into their TV. It's the reason why I respect Sony more than I could ever respect Microsoft or Microsoft Games. They don't respect us. The Playstation 2 was designed so as not to be a burden on the player, we'd already bought our PS1 equipment, so why get rid of it? Memory cards still load your saved games on the PS2 that they did on the PS1, yea you have to buy a PS2 Card for your PS2 games but with those PS2 cards comes more storage for better games. PS2 released something amazing, and the XBox came out as something gimicky that just wasn't all that great. It's been years and they still can't release a controller with it that doesn't give your hand cramps. Additionally, at E3, Microsoft is so eager to give you a tour of their new products, where as Sony is smart, and knows that folks don't like to be told what to like, they let the people come to them. Same reason why I'm a Mac person rather than a PC person. Though we have one PC in our home, we also have a Dual Ghz G4 as my primary CPU [which I'm writing this from now], a new iMac for my wife, and my iBook. When my child is old enough to play video games, unless Microsoft has changed, they're getting whichever Playstation system is out, not an XBox. As a Parent, and as a Gamer its just the better choice. |
