I had just cloned into Ancorhead, after being killed on the outskirts, to hear gunfire coming from just outside the Cloning center. I straight away assumed it was just another player Imperial raid. However, after leaving the Cloning Facility, it became obvious that it was infact a... NPC RAID!
To start with there were about 10 stormtroopers running around, shooting, getting chased by cats, getting blown up, and killing the odd Rebel. There were people asking "where did these NPC's come from?" To begin with, I thought they may have been dragged up from a ST camp outside AH. But this idea was soon corrected when 2 Stormtrooper commandos and a Darktrooper spawned right in front of my eyes... IN Ancorhead!
It was awesome! After the first wave of 10-20 stormtroopers, came a wave of about 5-10 Stormtrooper commandos, followed by a wave of 10-15 Darktroopers! And finished with a final wave of 1 At-St and 5 more normal stromtroopers.
For the first time, I REALLY felt like this was a war. There was non stop gunfire. Rockets flying everywhere. Tons of Rebels fighting, and Ancorhead was buzzing with sound. It was one of the coolest things I've seen yet.
At first, I thought it was an event that would happen on all servers at the same time. But that was the beauty of it, because I checked on another server, and Ancorhead was it's usual self. No raid, no NPC's, no Action!
So I quickly logged back onto Kauri (where the raid was taking place) and witnessed the battle. Making sure to take tons of Screenshots! The 'randomness' of the raid made it what it was. People were absolutely caught off guard. And it felt like for the first time, the Imperial Empire was cleaning up the 'Rebel Scum' as such.
My words don't give it justice, to be honest, you had to be there to experience the awesome event!
Well done to the person who implemented this on the SOE end of things. This was a great idea, that the players have mentioned once or twice. And is a great beginning for making the Galactic Civil War feel like just that - a war!

This sounds pretty sweet... wonder if these types of things will be happening in Player Cities? It'd be kind of annoying to have all the rebels in our city chased off, but at the same time... very cool, and very Star-Warsy.
