Post subject:  Circuits - Websites, Books etc.

Hey guys.

I haven't done any electronics since year 9 (4 years ago) and I really wanna get back into it. I've still got the fundamental gear (soldering iron, solder etc.) but I'm looking for websites/books that run through basics and then focus on the circuits i'm interested in playing with.

I have continued to focus on circuits in physics up to the point I have to design filters and resonance circuits for tuning radio stations (quality factors etc) but I'm looking to a good book/website that talks about the practical aspects on basic DC and AC circuits, talks about the components and what they do and does it in a well graduated fashion so that I can slide back into aspects I'm not familiar with - but still head to the technical areas I'm really interested in.

Anyway suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I know what I'm after is unlikely to be found in any one book - but I can always hope ;) The Electrical Engineering students have an interesting textbook on circuit design - but I don't necessarily want to be solving second order differential equations for fun at this point :P (we only learnt how to do them six weeks ago, and 8 weeks ago we had to solve the linear time-independent simple schrodings equation using them which at that time we didn't know)

Anyway any comments about websites, books, equipment, shops would be greatly appreciated. I don't care if this falls into simple discussion about the local shop, but if your trying to pass a suggestion to me please remember I live in Australia and don't have "Radio Shack" and stuff like that :P (though we have Dick Smith and places where you go and pick out resistors etc)
