General Character Information

What games do you currently enjoy playing the most?

I've been playing a lot of single-player games lately, most recently finishing up Hitman: Blood Money.

What style of gameplay do generally prefer? PvP, PvE, Crafting, etc...?

PvE mostly. I'm not sure it is a "real role" but I prefer alt/2nd tank characters: paladins, shadowknights, etc. (Depending on the game, of course.)

What game genres do you find most enjoyable?

Strategy, sports, RPGs, adventure, some action.

What unreleased games are you currently following the progress of?

Honestly, my disappointment with SWG after having followed its development for months has left me uninterested in following games beyond reading the occassional preview. I certainly don't follow any closely.

What unreleased games do you plan on playing in the future?

Medieval II: Total War, Sid Meier's Railroads!, LOTR Online just because it is Tolkien

In the games that you currently play, what names do your characters go by?

WOW: Vandermint on Dalaran, Rambler on Maelstrom

Player Associations

Have you previously been a part of any other Player Associations for any specific games or for gaming in general? Which ones were they, and why did you leave?

I've been in a few pickup PAs and I can't remember the names. I was in the Order of Time in EQ for a long time but just lost interest in the game.

With the exception of the ones you have joined (if any) what other Player Associations did you consider?

None in WOW.

Avian

Have you read and do you understand the text of the official Avian Charter?

Yes and I think so.

Is there anything you would change or amend to the Charter?

Not really. I'd like to know where the name came from and it obviously is SWG-centric but that's all. :)

Are you aware that a lot of Avian’s organization is conducted on the forum as opposed to in games themselves? How often do you see yourself regularly checking the forums if you are accepted into Avian

Daily (at least).

Please take a moment to tell us how you found Avian.

A lot of old comrades here going back to the pre-beta SWG days.

Please explain why you have chosen Avian and why Avian should choose you. What do you expect to get from your membership in Avian and what do you expect to offer?

I chose Avian because I know it has good people and a good reputation. I remember it being formed before the launch of SWG but wasn't interested because I knew I was going to be Empire-aligned. But I love the fact that it is a casual guild for mature people. As for me, I'm here to have a good time and offer my standard solid-if-not-spectacular play.

Thanks for reading and for your consideration.

We started out Avian Technology and Trade. A spin off of ATAT as well as being related with things that fly. We were a crafting focused PA, and selling ships in the Star Wars universe was what many of us dreamed of those several years before beta began.

Obo, X2, or another grey beard may have a better answer; there is a thread on the subject lost around here where they tell the story of our name. It had something to do with the founders getting drunk. :)

I seem to recall the original slogan was: Avian - We soar above the rest. Or something similar. The name was created by our original founders just over 5 years ago, apparently when the three of them were discussing setting up a PA for SWG over a few drinks (although by the sounds of it if was more than a few!). The created the original structure of the Government of Avian and the original Charter at the same time. I think the original website is still up somewhere ..... I'll see if I can find it.

Killjoy,

Thank you for applying to Avian Gamers. Your application is currently being reviewed by the Board of Directors. The application process can take anywhere from a day to 2 weeks or more. A lengthy process is no indication of a negative outcome, however the more you participate in the forums the more likely it is that your wait will be short. As soon as a decision has been made, you will be notified.

You are encouraged to participate in these forums, and interact with our members in game.

If you have any questions about Avian Gamers Network, or about Avian in a particular game, please feel free to post your questions in this thread.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm truly a noob to WoW--I played for a cup of coffee's time a while back but that's it. It'll take me a while to learn the game and see the sights but I hope to be up there raiding with the 60s before too long.

See ya in game (usually after the wife goes to bed).

KilljoyX,,

Congratulations, your application has been accepted by the Board of Directors and you will be placed in Section 3.

As a new member you may wish to visit the Important Links for Every Member thread. It will greatly help you get caught up with the rest of Avian. Remember that some things at that link might be slightly out of date now they we have expanded into a multi-game Player Association. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me, or any of our members.

Again, Congratulations on your membership.
