I would like our leaders to be able to offer members honorary titles for great deeds they perform in the game or for the guild. The guild system in game allows five levels of membership. These are primarily for allowing varying degrees of guild control. They are renamable, so that's why we are voting on what to name the levels of membership. They aren't viewable, that I'm aware, by those outside the guild. Since we have 3 tiers of membership, we have 2 spare tiers with unused titles available.

For our purposes though it might be nice to have honary titles bestowed, perhaps in a small ingame ceremony even. Thoughts?

Tremendous RP potential and could really be a lot of fun.

I think we're all in agreement that less government = good; therefore these titles should be at the discretion of guild leadership and not defined by any legislation we pass. Sound right?

Yes, I think it would be an RP thing and given out by the guild leadership.

Sounds right to me. They would be something of pride. Like when a mayor gives you the key to a city... you can not really use that key, it is to darn big ;) it is a token of honor.

What kinds of great deeds would be honored by our leaders?
And what kind of title would The Watchman give out?

That is my thought exactly, it is given out by the guild leader. It will need to be temporary since we only have two spare slots available. We could base it on the first person in the guild to visit a tough to reach place, or for a person who shows extraordinary generosity to the guild or others.

Yes. Basically, what we'd be doing is promoting a person or group of people to a particular rank within the guild. The only difference between one of these two new ranks and the rank of "Scout" would be the name. We could, in fact, grant the new rank to as many people as we want to.

And oh yeah...

Yes, we have two spare slots for custom names but they can be assigned to as many people as the ones with access see fit.

These honorary names may only be bestowed on non-leadership members...just realized that today.

Also, Tob, I discovered how to change guild leader from player to player so we're golden. /gleader <name> will do the trick.

Not that I am bucking for <Great Explorer> or anything but why are we limited to non leaders? We can custom control access and permissions for every level of title.

You would lose your "Perimeter Guard" title if you were granted the title of, say "Grand Gnomish Poobah."
