I was trying to figure out today which zone I should go to next to advance in level, and I realized that this is probably something a lot of people are looking for. So I'm going to start a list of zones that are good for specific level ranges.

I'm sure there are already lists like this all over the place, but oh well... I want to see where the Avians have been hunting and what they have to say about the zones.

Please post any and all areas you would like me to add to the list, and correct any errors you find. Also, if you have something of importance to say about a zone that I have listed already... feel free.

This list pertains to Alliance zones.

Level 1-9
--------------
Your race's starting zone - All starting zones are great for advancing, and there are plenty of quests with decent rewards to get you going. The quest-givers are also very good at leading you to the right zone for your level at this range. I haven't found any one "newbie" area to be better than any other.

Level 10-12
--------------
Zone: Loch Modan, West side of Lake
Location: East of Ironforge
Lots of quests for gnolls and kobolds and your average bear, pig, spider. From IF go to the E through the S pass and S guard tower, pick up quests from the guards at the tower, and go N from the tower to Thelsamar where quests abound. Stay West of the lake b/c there are some baddies on the other side.

Level 14-20
--------------
Zone: Loch Modan, East side of Lake
Location: East of Ironforge

Higher level animals roam the coast and wooded area, and a couple of elite mobs patrol around. The trogg missions over there are also very tough unless you are in a good group.

Level 13-15
--------------
Zone: Westfall
Location: S from Stormwind, then W at Goldshire.
Plenty of quests in this farming area for Watchers, Bandits, and pigs (Goretusks). Also a few easy collection quests with good rewards. Don't forget to head to Sentinel Hill to the SW of the bridge and check out the quests available at the inn.

I use this map. It is a map from way back in the early days of beta.... so some of it could be incorrect. So far, the areas I frequent seem to be correct.

The east side of the loch should be for level 14-20 or so. There is some pretty tough stuff over there, including a couple of elite mobs that patrol around, and the trogg missions over there are also very tough unless you are in a good group.

Great idea! I was thinking of doing the same thing. Gratz.

That map helps a lot cyrus. I can see the big picture of roughly where to go next.

There were several things I did not like about that map... mainly how it did not show the names of the regions.

So I created a new one from scratch, focusing it on Azeroth. Get the new map here

WorldofWar.net has done a bit of work on their Cartography section.

Check this out. http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/

Cyrus, you constantly boggle me with the sheer volume of work you do on these games. I'm surprised you haven't done a custom UI yet.

Funny you say that... I had a killer headache yesterday (and today too), so instead of playing I spent time researching several custom User Interfaces. I woke up this morning ready to try a few ideas out but the servers were down for maintenance.
