I found this link
http://wow.warcraftstrategy.com/articles.php?article=51

that discusses the choice of charatcer race and class in-depth. Beta being what it is, all this is subject to change, but it gives a good starting point by showing how things are now.

Thanks for the link.

I've played the Paladin in EQ and enjoyed the ability to solo or group. Having tank ability and some spells for healing was cool. However, in WOW, the pally is not the holy warrior as in EQ (but still the pally has some nice aspects I can't ignore). Looking at the priest, I really like majority of his abilities. I think the Priest will be the class for me. I've always said that good healers are hard to find, and at very high levels, healers are extremely important. I really like saving people's asses as well as my own. hehe...

So count me in as a Priest. If I can start a alternate character, it will be a Paladin.

This game sounds a lot like EQ and I expect the group style will be similar. I didn't realize how much I missed the group dynamics in EQ. SWG is full of ninja looting, no group organization, people shooting and runing everywhere, macro grinding...

Loot, mana, eating, drinking, sitting, resting, leveling, etc. I missed those things in a game.

Can't wait...

I thought there were some other classes like Druid or Ranger or something?

Yes, there will be Druids and Hunters, but those aren't in the beta yet, so that site can't say much about them...
