I have the 1st Diablo(the only Blizzard game I have), I also LOVED Baldurs Gate1 & 2 and their expansions and Icewind Dale was GREAT also.

Compared to these what can I expect from Warcraft 3.

Plus I need a CD key to get into the forums.

You won't be dissapointed. It's a game with a GREAT STORYLINE! The gameplay is GREAT, the graphics are GREAT for the type of game it is, and the characters are GREAT. The whole entire game is fantastic. Then when you're tired of Warcraft 3. Go buy Warcraft 3 - Frozen Throne, the expansion pack, because it's awesome as well!

Honestly, I've got to tell you all....that Warcraft 3 has to be the only strategy game I've played that has the best kick ass story line.

The game is just really good...please go buy it, make me happy! hehe.

And if you don't like it, which will be considered a sin, I'll love you long time for $10 dollar.

After Locke's enthusiastic rant on the matter whatever can follow must seem like damning with faint praise, but:
Warcraft 3 is really fun, the missions are fun, really well made, varied and there are a few good plot twists to the main story, sidequests and stuff.

If you liked Diablo, you might be interested in the Orc bonus campaign included in the Frozen Throne expansion. It is an RPG built with the WCIII engine, and really well done.

Plus you can get WCIII really cheap now.

I agree with every bit of praise heaped on WC3 above. However (didn't expect a "however" there, didja?), you need to know it is a completely different kind of game from Diablo and the BG series. WC3, IMHO, is more of an RTS than RPG, an RTS with some small RPG elements, if you will. I'm not saying this to discourage you from buying it, I just want you to know it's not an RPG in the way the BG series or even Diablo are.

I need to remind myself of this regularly.

Well I picked it up on my way home from work this morning. I have some things to do around the house but I'll get it loaded and at least try to get thru the tutorial today.

In my opinion DiabloII, and StarCraft are the best blizzard games so far.

WarCraftIII was an extremely polished and improved game, but for me it was not as fun as WarCraftII or StarCraft. The campaign was excellent, much better than the early games, but I never got as much satisfaction from the multiplayer part of the game as I did with the earlier blizzard games.

If I were ranking WarCraftIII I would give it a 100% for solo play, and an 80% for multiplayer.

Yeah, Warcraft III is an excellent game, and it's really better with The Frozen Throne. And, like Rocklar said, it's a RTS with some pieces of RPG in the campaign so don't expect the solo part to last more than 2 weeks if you're a casual gamer.

So tell me what is in the expansion that makes it so great. I only bought the main game and never got the expansion.... maybe I am missing out?

For the multiplayer part, the new units and heroes bring lots of new possibilites, and this is reinforced by the race shops you can build (I'm lost without them when I go back to RoC). It forces yourself to be more aggressive.

For the solo, well, the campaigns are as great as the RoC ones, though the orc campaign is a bit different, it's more RPG than the others.

Let me say one thing about WC III ....TOWER MAPS = FUN!!!

Oh, and I'm suprised you didn't pick up Diablo 2, that game is great as well.

This game really reminds me of Age of Kings II as far a gameplay and the building aspect.

Of course AoK didn't have the missions or the creeps or the fantasy aspect.

So far I'm enjoying the game.

Thats good to hear moonraker66. The game really is fun. You should try playing it online, once you beat the game.

So how's the game moonraker66?

I'm almost thru chapter 7 on the human campaign. Still having fun but just don't much time to play.

Oh, thats cool. You should try the Frozen Throne expansion pack when you beat the game. It's really alot of fun! I LOVE the beastmaster hero guy, or whatever his name is, who can summon/control creatures.
