Is there a projected release date for this game? also how long does the ST Beta last?

ST is only 7 days long. Open Beta is set for "later this year". I haven't been keeping up but I'd say... next yearish? Maybe one of the closed beta testers has a better idea.

If you'd like a release date, go for December or Jannuary, but remember as always, Blizzard ALWAYS delays. :D

I wish they'd just release it now. I'm sure there's lots of high-end work to be done, but damn it feels pretty polished. It's gonna be sad when the ST servers go down.

No kiddin... :(

Playing the stress test, knowing it ends soon and SWG is all that remains is kinda like going to a strip club, knowing your hotel room/apartment/house is empty and there ain't no one going home with you. :P

Now I know you can not count on release dates from distributors.... but I do find it interesting that the 2 games seem to squaring off in the second half of October. If they are to release close to each other, How will that effect you?

Here is how it will effect me: The whole reason I even bothered to look up these dates was because I was wondering if I should reward SOE with my money when their new product is released. Based on their performance so far, I do not think SOE deserve more of my money until they fix the long standing problems in SWG. Not to mention the fact that SWG has turned into such an anti casual, solo affair. I can hardly find a group of friends to play with, everyone is going solo. And forget about doing anything quick and fun, anything that is fun requires buffs plus 2 or more hours of your time. Frankly I am not crazy with the direction of SWG; what they have done with Jedi has totally rewritten what this area in Star Wars was all about. SOE has used the idea of Jedi to keep people playing, now that Idea has gotten so big and so out of control, as a result SWG no longer looks nor feels like the game I was excited about 3 or 4 years ago.

I am pretty much a one game at a time kind of guy. So I am pretty positive that I will not be subscribing to SWG and any other MMO at the same time. With WoW looking like it may release so close to JtL, I may not buy JtL at all and give Blizzard a try. The way I look at it, Blizzard had not done me wrong yet, while SOE has disappointed me time and time again.

Now if JtL delights Avian and WoW does not, I will surly hop back to SWG. But if WoW and JtL are slated to release close to each other, I think my money is going to Blizzard before I waste it on SOE.

I echo your sentiments, Cyrus. SWG has given me quite a bit of fun but not necessarily as a result of something SOE delivered. WoW has really pulled me in during this Stress Test and I'm more convinced WoW is a very high-quality game. Whether it has staying power, the ability to keep my attention for a long period of time, we'll see but for the time being, I'm having a blast.

One comment about the release dates, those dates arose from Amazon and Amazon only. I'm very confident little to no input from the respective vendors was sought or provided.

I agree, the whole thing that will determine if I remain with SWG or not will probably be the WoW crafting and its longevity of fun play, I have been enjoying it a great deal, I am going to hate to have to stop playing on Thursday when the stress test is over.

October is out of the question; theres still too much balance, and content to be added into the game.

Dai, have you gotten into WoW crafting at all? None of my chars have yet (been having too much fun busting heads!) but I plan to before ST ends.

EB has been saying NOVEMBER 15 for at least a couple of months.

I would imagine they would really like to get it out for Christmas.

My level 12 has fishing, herbs, alchemy, and skinning at 75 with the points to try mining next.

Fishing can get you some great stuff and is danger free money early in the game.

Gathering the plants is only useful with alchemy as they sell for next to nothing but you can immediately produce a hit point 70-90 potion and another that juices your AC by 50 (about 15% for my mage)

Skinning is good for money as you don't have to have loot rights to skin a creature, players leave dead animals EVERYWHERE and 10 good hides gives 1s30 and 10 rough hides 70c (you always get one or the other) unless your creature is over lvl 15.

It better be Christmas! I WANT TO PLAY THE GAME RETAIL!!! I never bothered getting past level 30 in beta for some of my characters, because I didn't want to spoil stuff for myself. :P

p.s. The whole enchanting system has just been revamped since the last patch, so its basically all new. I haven't actually tried it yet, but from what I hear/read you have to find certain items, and disenchant them to get components to use in order to enchant stuff. -On my warrior character, I used to get most of my money from selling loot, or mining.

Rocklar, only have tried the first aid and skinning so far, and first aid I picked up today and havent really played with it much yet. I want to get to try mining and maybe blacksmithy or try enchanting as well. To many things to try and less than a week to try it *sigh*

Yeah, I'd like to get mining, too and maybe dabble in weaponsmithing or armor but time is against me! :( :( :(

It can alway be worse. You could be like me on the outside looking in.

Better to have played and have it lost, than not to have played at all.

got mining now, definately will not be like SWG, gotta run around with a vein search ability activated and it will show you where veins are for you to mine.
