Post subject: | UNOFFICIAL new server thread. |
With the holidays now in full swing, it has been difficult to coordinate a plan regarding our downtime. We are still hopeful that Blizz will make good on their word of having our server up in two days which would fall on Saturday morning. We want to have a contingency plan in place should this not become a reality and it appears that a return to service is further off. This is not official yet but should we change PvE servers we will be going to Llane a PvE East Coast server. We will have a plan in place as soon as everyone can be reached. We are not willing to wait indefinitely for Dalaran to resume operations, nor are we yet willing to abandon it. Please play PvE on Llane knowing that should we be forced to make a change that will be our new home. Hopefully Blizz will finally come through and that will not be necessary. We realize that a few members could have already made up the time lost and gotten further on a new server. Please realize that a further consideration is our expectation that future problems on Dalaran should be reduced because of this maintenance. Expect an update as soon as we can get it to you. |

You realize by the time you get this all done, Dalaran will be up, you know that, right? |

No I don't. This is a contingency server, I thought I stressed that. Yes I hope the server comes up when they say it will. What if it doesn't? What if members want to play on a PvE server and a PvP server instead of just twiddling their thumbs? If they do, it would be nice if they all played on the same one... just in case. ![]() |

My choice would be to wait no longer than Sunday. Rocklar is offline for the holidays and really has the final say. Perhaps everyone should at least make their opinions known. |

Personally I don't mind waiting. I have SWG to fall back on. ![]() Question though, why do we have to go on an east coast server? I read somewhere that it shouldn't matter what server (west, central, east) in terms of lag. |

We thought it would benefit the Europeans. |

The lag isn't an issue for us on the west coast servers, but the time zone difference is, another three hours off makes it impossible to take part in guild activities and such things. |

Chilrasta was our final choice for SWG because we had narrowed the potental home server list to those on the East Coast of the US because we thought those would be better for our overseas (europe mainly) players' connections. Other factors came into play too, but the general feel was that east coast servers were the way to go. That really was (and I still believe is) the main factor- which servers will have the best connections overall for all members. Though daytime factor is important as well I guess with WoW(?). Not being able to join events doesn't really factor into server selection because those are based on real time and are up to the planners to set the best times to try and fit as many schedules as possible (though there is no perfect time for anything when everyone can sit down and play). |

My last reply was posted around 5 am, a time when my brain isn't working at all, so I'll clear it up a bit: Guild events are of course not a problem since you all live where you live anyway, doesn't matter where you play. The problem is everyone else, in SWG it was a bore logging in before late at night because the server was empty. |
