Ok, just to send out a reminder to all of you......

Be careful who you group with. Alarax and I were running the stockade instance to try to get Dextran Ward's Hand and we were grouped with a paladin named Kaidel and a rogue named Flois. All was going well, we had a strong team, until we got to Dextran and got hammered. I died but Alarax, Flois and Kaidel all got the hand. No big deal, I thought, we will just run in again real quick. It didn't take us that long. Nope! The two of them got what they needed and ran. Alarax and I couldn't do it with just the two of us so now I have to do the whole instance again. (Once I find someone to go with us.) Anyway, I just wanted to put these two names out so you are all aware of them and to make sure you get what you need if you group with them.

If any of you know either of these two people, I am sorry. Tell them thanks a helluva a lot!

Isn't it amazing how Ironforge can be such a wretched hive of scum and villainy at times?

If you hadn't released you would have gotten the hand too.

I agree with your original point completely but everyone should remember: Don't release mid battle. If you haven't released you will get credit for the kill like the others. Then you can run back as a ghost after, get your corpse, and loot the boss for the item.

^^^we went back in, everything had respawned.

it was impossible for two people at our levels to run through there, even if only to loot.

cause that is exactly what we had palnned on doing.

I feel your pain. For your reasons, and because I am picky, I usually only play with people I know… it is easier for me because my wife and brother are always just a shout away.

Being a priest, I get focused on keeping my group firepower alive when we are killing a boss... and I find that as a result I keep them alive, yet I die in the final seconds. I have not figured out why sometimes I get the loot and other times I can’t.

Like you, I did not get credit for a few kills that my group mates did. I did not release, never do, yet I find that death sometimes causes you to do a mission over again… I know that releasing was not my problem on some cases.

Case #1: I think this was the Pendent quest… the one where the Guys in SW give you 1.5g upon returning the pendent. The Ogre Mage, one map north of Southshore was killed by Danyale and I, but I died seconds after he fell. When I returned moments later I could not loot him to get the item we were questing for.

Case #2 This same thing happened to me in the Stockades killing one of the many targets you have missions for.

Case #3 However I don’t think this same problem happened in Gnomragon. I died at the end of that battle yet I got credit for the kill.

I understand about not releasing in mid battle, however in this case it was an instance and everything was 26 elite or higher. Plus instances make you spawn at the beginning, not where your body is. Had I been able to make it to my body as a wisp, I would have gotten the hand. I don't mean to complain, after all it is just a game. However, I have already become accustomed to Avian loyalty and teamwork and was just disappointed to find out that not everyone shares our views.

Well I think we have all had our share of bad or unacceptable groups. I recall my worst group back in WestFall for the Deadmines instance. It was atleast my 4th run through the instance still trying to get Van Cleefs head and I was grouped with a few other party members around my lvl including our biggest muscle, a level 46 Night Elf Rogue named Darix. Things were going smooth for a while until our group reached the small room where you first encounter the elite Goblins. It was close to the end of the battle where we were fighting the Shredder when I noticed that Darix wasn't even helping us fight at all, he was peacefully sitting in a far corner stealthed and watching us and as far as I could tell he wasn't AFK. Of course our whole group except for Darix was killed, and when I retrieved my corpse I noticed he had disposed of the Shredder and looted everything he could. This happened on several occasions throughout the instance but no one thought much of it until the final battle where we fought Van Cleef himself. He instructed one of us to pull him out of his dark room (which we did), but shortly before he went back into stealth mode, sitting away from the rest of us. I thought that he might actually be getting into a good position to strike Van Cleef from behind or perhaps one of his stealthed guards but as the battled waged on and I noticed he hadn't moved an inch these thoughts slipped my mind and I knew he was waiting for us to die. As I had suspected it was true, Darix let us die through each and every battle aware of our situation and, like the Shredder incident, he looted Van Cleef of all his items but ultimately made sure we would not get his head. So yeah, but careful who you group with.

Oh and one other thing, after all that we asked him why he had let us die and his answer was "because I don't like you."

Was he group leader? if not, it was a mistake not to /boot his ass...

No, he wasn't leader...but I dont think the actual leader wanted to risk kicking a player that was a valuable asset to our mission. Until he later grasped the truth that is.

That sucks... but what fun is it to have a guy that level in your group? I did VC with a group of 3. Me a priest, my brother a warrior, and my wife a Rogue. All of us were 2 or 3 levels above the enemies at the start of the instance. When we completed the instance it felt so good. I know that we all learned how to play our classes better in that instance.

It was very fun because it was hard... but the hard made it fun. Each class had to play good, using their skills to the fullest. I don’t see the fun in doing that instance with a stranger 20+ levels above the instance. When I see that I instantly thing the guy is up to no good.

At his level I would think he could find better stuff elsewhere…. I bet he was farming Defias gear to get the complete set

More than likely thats true, I sold a pair of Defias gloves on the AH and they sold for a nice price. I didn't think much of him being in our group but all I really wanted was to complete this instance for good. I'll know better next time.

If he had any honor he would have told the group that he would help the group all the way, if everyone agreed to give him the Defias loot the group found on the way. You only get 1 or 2 drops of that stuff each time... and that would be a fair payment for his help.

Sad that everyone is not honorable enough to be up front about their intentions.

My worst group would be when i was in the Uldaman instance, we did all of the other group members quests before any of mine, making sure that i didnt get any of the ones that some of us all had then when we got to the fork with 3 paths i head towards one of my quest areas 2 of the members followed for 2 mins then left with no warning and i looked back while fighting one of the elite dwarfs and saw they were all back there healing buffing drinking and looting and i asked for help 20 times no one came so i actually went all the way up to where i needed and survived and just as im about to kill the guy the leader runs up to me while his members loot what I killed and he puts it on master looter then kicks me and tags the boss it took 50 seconds fo rthem to all die and i was about to automatically teleport to Southshore which is really far and i told them please invite please invite me and they just ignored me and then 1 second before teleport they said bye newb and i was now in southshore.... i was so pissed that i got my horde char went all the way up to uldaman and waiting for them to come out, this was on llane then i took my rogue level 48 and killed them all laughed at their faces and went away... my essence of hatred :(

Nope, but it is a dish best served cold.

Some would say you needed to camp their bodies too, so you didn't go too far. Just enough.
