Ive been learning a lot of XML (not like it is very difficult to pick up) lately and while I know almost no LAU I've been tinkering with a WoW Mod.

Basically the end goal is to collect quest information and allow you to search your collected info and create a /tloc and generate a notice as to where (what map/town/area) that NPC or Object is.

That is the basic idea. The more advanced idea is to then be able to share/swap your data with others thus building up your own file of NPCs.

The basic idea is like Auctioneer. It creates a file with a huge list of items and al the data it can for that item.

the trade part is much like Map Notes where you can trade and send data to other players.

There are already MODs that collect quest info. Ive been looking at their structures and finding ways to combine it with the auctioneer file writing ability. My first step is just to collect the data and store it in a file. Once I get that done I will try and find a way to generate the /tloc data. After that (if I get that far) I'll start the work on the XML frame for a search feature and the swap files commands.

Really this is just a tinker project with no practical (skill wise) goal of finishing but it should be fun to play around with.

As a NUB to WOW, I have many MOD ideas that I can imagine others have had. Over time I suspect I will find that some are already available. One idea I had tho is:
I notice that MODs run on your local machine. The idea I have is to provide an MAIL MOD that will send the player an IRL message to email or cell phone with the textual contents of the mail.
It would mean: (1) you would leave your WOW running and (2) a MOD to prevent AFK from happening.
My primary reason is the "You have been outbidded" message you get from the AH. If you are bidding on a well needed item that you cannot afford the buyout on, it would be handy to know that you have been outbid while you are doing your other job...like taking care of kids or feigning an interest in real life employment :) ...so if possible you can get back to bid again before the item falls of the market.

Grezdo, that's a great idea. An auto-AIM message would be good, too... and, it'd be nice if you could reply and specify the amount of gold, and it'd auto-bid for you...
