whats the diff between rp and regular? i know it stands 4 role play, but how is it more of that on those servers than others? just curious

I'm up for that as long as we're playing Horde. I think there's a couple others that would play too. Shall we try Maelstrom? I think Emerald Dream sounds nicer and will get more peeps faster. |

On RP servers people are suppose to play the role of their characters. When they speak, they speak for their character and not for themselves. So, you won't be getting normal speak such as, is this character your alt or you main. You shouldn't hear, "the server is lagging" you might hear "Don't the days seem long today?" |

Well, depending on the server swamping toinght, I am going to try and get either a Tauren or Troll shammy created on Mael. Gonna be some damn good fun to RP a villanous character. Will have to take the Tauren honor into account if I roll a cow (hehe that reminds me of cow tipping  ). A troll on the other hand can be all out brutal. Have some research to do at work today it seems.

no standing in IF seeing every other person calling someone else a 'n00b n1nj4 l00+3r', or any of that childish crap. plus, the PvP aspect will be something new for me. i dunno, just feel like changing it up a bit. my Horde toon will be on Maelstrom, Alliance toon on the other one. hopefully this will bring the RP aspect of MMORPG back for me. |

oh yea. they will be full i bet. change of plans for me. a few of my RL buds are rolling alliance on Maelstrom. So i guess my Horde toon will be on Emerald Dream. either way, im really stoked for this. BTW, the link is broken. due to maintenance im sure. |

Then again, us on the Horde side will have some arch-enemies made already

hehe...it was enough of a feat to get them to come at all. all of them have multiple 60's on Deathwing. Maelstrom sound more horde-ish to me. ahh well.

Well that just sucks Al. You need a little stronger negociation skills. What's it to them what server they play on if they weren't keen on o=coming anyway? (sorry, just very excited about getting as many Avians as possible into this new thing/endeavour). Its gonna be a very different play experience (both the PvP and to be in-character). For those using that mod where you can say custom things when fighting (I know Cy is huge into this), this server could be right up your alley. hehe Anyone get in yet? Please post IG names here so we can get friends lists going. |

got bumped from Maelstrom and was sent into a queue that was at 253 and climbing. When I was logged onto the server it was packed with people and only a few were RPing but I was only on for a few minutes |

Damn. Knew i shoulda gone home at lunch to roll some place holder toons. Da well, can a person enter a creation queue and then log into Dalaran? Probably not but just curious. Might be a night with NHL 06 afterall... Edit - place 487 in the queue now. Not bad after starting 1097!! 
Thank god I could log in and then go eat/do dishes. Got in and got the following rolled: Krynger - Tauren shammy Kymira - UD priest Krysha - Troll rogue GOnna level each to 2 in case that how they are removing placeholders. |

However, I don't think it will become an official guild server for a little while and after some sort of voting process. (note - this is just my opinion going off of leadership's direction last week after ponderings of the Thunderhorn server guild). Besides, I think it would be best to let the new server hype die down a little bit cause last night was a gong-show and very little in terms of RP going on in general chat with all the l33t d00ds and RP-haters running around rampant. I heard the devs are going to be strictly monitoring and booting those not RPing so I am hopefull still that this will be a cool server. |

Face it , your average PVP'er is an 11 year old moron who hasn't sunshine in a month, and thinks gaming is a substitute for real life. Till they are all back in their usually hidey holes, there will be VERY little RP going on anywhere. |

Yeah, I'm gonna stay away or at least turn off /general for a while when I am on there. Those low level quests typically don't need too much in the form of grouping anyhoo. Besides if we have fellow Avians on there, create an Avian channel and we can go to town in our own RP fashion. |

i have had general off since day 1. i was on twisting nether with my new pally and it was actually really nice. people were greeting in character, talking like jeger, etc. i was doing the first dun morogh(sp?) quest with the wolves and another dorf came running at me, yelling 'Watch your back, friend! here comes another beast!'. i was pleased.
also, if anyone makes an alliance toon on twisting nether, my pally's name is "Mjolnir". im sure Shadow knows what that means. i'll have a cow shammy on Maelstrom named "Novalis". i reserved the name, just havent had time to get back in. |

Oh...that's in character?? I just thought he really was a drunken fool. As for the rest, I've seen similar things the couple times I've started a character on an RP server. Hopefully Bliz will continue to police this...then going to Maelstrom could be a lot of fun. I've yet to make it in and create Luro. |
