Build Suggestions

Over the past year I have done my best to study as much as possible about my characters, their class, and the changes Blizzard makes to them over time. However while I was trying to graduate I did not pay any attention to any class other than Priest and Rogue. I believe the big hunter patch marked the beginning of my limited WoW education.

So now that I am playing more, and trying out other classes, I find myself out of the loop when it comes to a few classes. I would like to know more about Pally, Hunter, and Druid builds. I know that each can have several variations depending on my play style… but right now I need all the advice and guidance you can give me.

Thanks

I can speak to hunter...

I am still a big fan of the marksman talents being the focus of your points. Krynn currently is 5/31/20 I think, but I dunno if the points in survival make that big of difference (then again, I don't pvp with her at all so dunno the benefits of wingclip, and longer trap durations are).

The beast mastery side of things got a huge boost in that patch and the 31 pt talent there I understand completely decimates squishies pvp.

Paladin specs are, as you suggested, entirely based on your preferred playstyle. If you're fortunate enough to be a part of a static group and are serving in the role of tank, a protection spec will go a looong ways to keeping you alive.

I played the first 3/4 of the game with a Holy spec. I was hard to kill but it was also darn tough for me to kill anything unless I packed a Snickers. (I picture a Holy-specced pally going into combat as the image of a Snickers fills the screen while the voiceover says, "Not going anywhere for a while?")

Up until about 3 or 4 weeks ago, I was a retribution pally and when raiding would regularly pull aggro. Ret Pallies might be well suited for PvP but I really don't have much of an opinion on that as I've done little PvP with Liro.

Pally talents really do boil down to the following: To kill, go Retrubition. To survive, go Protection. To help others, go Holy.

Lastly, Blessing of Kings (BoK) is a blessing that is highly sought after by most. Many assume all pallies can do BoK - it's that commonly found. I forget exactly how many points it takes now to get to BoK but it is doable with most builds.

As far as hunters go, IMHO I can't see how a hunter who doesn't have at least 31 points in marksmanship can be anywhere near as deadly as one who does.

There are some really great talents in the Survival tree and Beast Mastery, but in my mind hunter = long-ranged DPS.

My favorite spot in any raid/group is one where I can see all of the other players and keep an eye on the healers...(must remember that even though mages wear cloth they will sheep....huh manni :) )

Well MC and BWL hunters can, with 400+ AGI (I think it's 415) you get more AP from +15% agi (surv) than from the aura...
