Ok well I am at level 39 now and I only have 42 gold. I am thinking about dropping skinning and picking up something else to make me some gold. What would be the best thing to pick up?

actually skinning is a good money maker... if you want money, resource collecting is where it is at.

Also, to make gold, you have to grind it out. You won't make 100g by doing a "neat trick"... you gotta just pile up the dead bodies.

In Krynyr's early days he had mining and skinning and made a ton of cash. However, he blew all those earnings by grinding up enchanting.

As noted above, the money-making professions are skinning/mining/herbalism. Stay away from any crafting prof as they are money sinks and its not until you get rare/epic high end patterns where you can make money, and that's just if you grind some of the more expensive mats yourself.

The money you save in grinding a crafting prof and selling resources easily outweighs any cost you'll incur having to buy potions/weaps/armor on the AH.

Skinning is as good as anything for making money. Heavy leather on Maelstrom goes for 60-65s a stack and thick leather is 75-90s a stack. You can't make anything like that with any crafting profession.

If you can handle the mobs, the coast in Tanaris is great for skinners farming the turltles. The turtle leather sells great and the turtles themselves drop nices greys and turtle meat which sells great.

Also, I'd be happy to lend you whatever you need to get there. Let me know in game.

Yeah but in instances ALOT of greens usually drop and you can usually disenchant them into alot of Gold producing regants and since Maelstom is PvP everyone wants enchantments so you can usually make quite a bit of change... I didnt say level enchanting just do the disenchanting

I wouldn't worry too much about it, when i was 39 I had about the same gold situation...I didn't get my mount till level 42. I spent time killing humanoids so they would drop money, went after herbs that sold well on the market, and did lower instances to pocket up on some green items for the AH.

The temptation to spend gold on stuff needed to be put aside as well.

Good point T. With enchanting you can make decent coin just disenchanting items. It just becomes a toss up as to whether you instance more, so as to get lotsa greens/blues, or quest in the wilderness more, in which case skin/min/herb would be more useful.

Either way, stay away from crafting if you wanna make money!
