I have a level 45 mage almost 46. I love PvP and with the new mage talents I am in need of some help. Does anyone have a good mage PvP talent build or can I get some sugestions from someone. Also what is the best gear for me to get. Do I need to get to sets of gear one for PvP and one for group raids? I am in the group with Sholuss (the no agroo holding cow) so I want to be able to help out as much as possible.

PVP mage = + Damage gear

Select talents that give you more damage faster... most PVP mages are AP mages... heavy into Arcane and then fill in with fire.

The patch really won't change that in my opinion.

Right now, I run with +253 damage to fire...

What are you talents? And I thought everyone was saying that the patch hurt Arcane and bosted Frost?

After the new patch, I will be 21 arcane / 30 fire...

Arcane is pretty boring below 20 pts... that what the folks complain about... but fire is stronger now in PVE... and about the same in PVP as it was.

Frost got a big boost... thats true, but I think the arcane / fire build is still a monster to be dealt with in PVP...

Right now I am 17/34 arcane / fire...

I burn stuff.... alot

Also, in two days, went from 1 HK in my entire characters life... to Seargent... not bad for a "weak PVP class"

can you post a link to what your talents are going to be? I thought about a fire/frost but I am not sure how good that would be. As for PvP I do not think the Mage class is weak at all. I an at rank 5 now I can not remember what it is called for horde. I have a lot of kills last week I had over 29k in honor and about 479 HK. I love frost but I use fire a lot. So I just do not know which way to go thats why I thought about doing a little of fire and frost.

The "elementalist" fire / frost build has been getting mixed reviews PVP wise. Its great for PVE... but not really enough BURST damage for PVP...

I will link something later on about my supposed build in 1.11.

I intend to be very evenly split between fire and ice. For a PVP only build, it's going to be too hard to pass up the insance burst damage potential of the new shatter.

This is probably pretty close to what I'll do

Mant, I like your build. I like how Blizz listened to some of the concerns by the mage community to help make the Arcane tree more appealing since the new talents were first released.

I assume this is primarily for PVE, but it sure seems like a really solid PVP build.

Duck, I would try putting points into Shatter. You know your playstyle better than I do, but for PVP and solo, it's going to be a great talent. Remember, with 5 points in shatter, and when a target it frozen, it adds 50% chance to crit on any fire, frost or arcane spell.

With Frost Nova or when Frostbite works, all those frozen targets are going to be susceptible to insane burst damage.

ok so what about this one

http://www.wowhead.com/talent/?RZxpGzbczZViGMzoxh

or this one

http://www.wowhead.com/talent/?o0xZxpGzbMzZViG0z0xb

I mostly do PvP after that I group and then solo. I have never used my arcane that much so since I have never really used it I do not think Iwill miss it that much.

My build is based on PVE and longevity in big fights... but I agree... it will be a servicable PVP build as well. I really think I am going to like it.

Scorch FTW !!!!

Duck, I like your first build better, mostly because it's closest to mine. :)

Either way, I like how the talents seem much better balanced between trees and also PVP vs. PVE. I just can't wait until the patch. Was hoping it would be this week, maybe next.

ya I can not wait for it to come out. My question is do you only get one shot at your talent tree and if you do not like that one then you have to pay or are they going to let you play with it some? I have already redone my talent tree 2 times so if I decide that I do not like this will it be back at the original cost or am I going to have to pay the 10 or so gold to redo it?

Also what are the + and - to Master of Elements is it worth putting 3 points in or would I be better off using my points somewhere else?

Ya you only get one shot, it's not like the online talent calculators. If you make a mistake you'll have to re do it.

When the patch comes out, all your mage talents will be reset to 0, so we get a freebie. After that one, it'll cost you.

Also with this patch, the cost of respeccing will decrease over time. I'm not sure on the details but you can check out the patch notes. Basically, the longer the time since your last respec, the cheaper it'll be, or something like that.

Respec costs will drop 5g per month of no respec'ing.

So after 2 months of steady spec... you will pay 10g less for you respec than you would normally have... etc.

Lowest it will go is 5g.
