Here is some very good info on how the new levels work

Combined with :
1) The "dumbing down" of AS ( removing two of the three experimentation lines so there no longer is a difference between 10 and 12pts smiths, meaning the millions invested in the crafting suit is wasted)
2) The huge change in resources (Devs pre-CU :" we wont change the AS crafting resources", HA!)
3)All class of suits are now completely equal, meaning bone armor=Padded=Marauder (ditto for the other classes of armor), only difference is visual.
4) The level difference in combat pretty much invalidates armor in combat except for high end PvE and PvP (see link above).
5) Huge increase in resources needed (particularly creature resources, combined with combat becoming harder, means higher prices for creature resources) we're looking at at least a 200-300% increase in armor prices.
6) Devs have added another stage in the armor crafting process which requires more factory time. (layer->segment->core->armor)

Smiths are now becoming glorified expensive tailors.
Not what I signed up for.

I QUIT!!

If anyone is interested in continuing as an Armorsmith after CU, good luck and you can have all my resources/factories/loot drops.

I hear you, I am still waiting to see if they will change things before I make the decision to keep Daishus as a Master Armorsmith, but if I do I might take you up on those resources if they are still available. I have mainly been doing Space missions lately hardly staying on the ground.

I absolutely agree, but this is not the way to fix it.
There are so many good ideas on the AS forums about how to improve the situation, but no feedback on this from the Devs at all.

I dont mind change, in fact was looking forward to some change in the profession, it is what got me to come back to the game after all.

I am not as angry as most of the master armorsmiths in the game but that is because I just came back. I dont have millions in resources that would no longer be usefull. But I have been on TC quite a bit and there are quite a few problems with the way they have been going it

I agree it is broke and needs change but I think that there are many problems in what they are implementing

No Dev response to that post yet.

One thing I loved about being AS was the complexity of crafting, all the possibilities in the combinations of products and experimentaion points.
Now its just one experimentation line and if you have the best resources, you'll produce the same as everyone else.

well it does suck about our Tapes but in the end any AS with his salt made back those expenses a very long time ago.

The resource needs are high, but they just did lower all Core and Armor hides and bone by 50% yesterday I think. That is a start and shows they are aware of the situation.

Armorsmithing post CU will be a tough thing. However, just look at our profits. We are easily the richest players ingame. I have no plans on cancelling my AS but I will probably never be a 'big time' maker. Just enough for the PA and a small vendor in TB.

Ive been talking with the AS in TB and we are going to work together to we both make different stuff.

in the end, AS will suck, but we will have the credits for our time.

wow what a mess. However, telling every AS to spam the Devs with PMs is not the best way to go about changes. The Dev have been listening. Something are possible to change, others are not.
Fight the fights we can win:
Armor Certs;
Resource needs;
named resources;

Call me crazy, but I actually like this part. Maybe we'll see people in all different kinds of armor instead of everyone wearing one kind. I hate being forced to wear composite right now in-game. I love the look of padded. But hardly anyone makes padded, and it doesn't protect nearly as well as composite.

As for the rest... I would wait and see. I'll bet you that some of these things will change before it goes live when they see how many Armorsmiths are angry about it.

thanks for the vote of support guys. I figured I could get in there and try my best to get this thing back on track.

As Angus said, most of our 'issues' are actually pretty small (but important) and none really require mass changes to make happen. Just need someone back in the ring fighting the fight.

We'll see what happens.

Will everybody please visit the Official SWG forums, if you have access, and voice your support for Moge as the AS-Correspondent.

The more you can say about his ability to coordinate, and iterate ideas, the better.

We could really use some Avian's in the Correspondent program.

Also things like panels should not require schematic ids when used in a final product output. This was one thing that bothered me about armor/shields.

Subcomponents that did not affect the outcome of the craft forced you to have the actual id batch in the final outcome. Either force the quality to be a factor or get them out of the requirement and allow any batch to be in the end product.

Yeah I read their comments and cant believe how mean they are. Do they honestly think the devs will reinstate the old AS correspondent? Do they think they will be better off with no correspondent? This CU will be here before we know it. AS needs someone in there to get player concerns implemented.

Yeah this was an area that I liked. Different tiers of armor, and each tier has alternant looks. It will be good to see the old armor useful again.

I am not even concerning myself with "those People" "they" can go "FSK themselves" for all Im concerned.

There are however a lot of people that really do care about the CU and really do care about armorsmithing. It is those people, including myself, that I will be working for.

I actualy doubt if even half the nay-sayers are even Armorsmiths. It is like one huge Troll Fest. I ignore them.

One my of main goals if chosen is to get rid of Armor Certs, except for BH, Mando and maybe RIS I would like to see all armor able to be worn by all players. Keep the Encumb certs where they are. But if I I think Padded is cool I should be able to wear padded. Granted I would not want to combat with padded unless I have the Encumb certs but if I want to tool around in my Padded then I should be able to.

There are many other things that I have outlined in my threads mostly just continuing the work that Oa'Kron put so much work into as those really are the things that will make AS fun again, or rather keep AS fun and interesting.

Wow, Moge. With those sorts of folks in ASing, your job is going to suck. They are some of the most ignorant people I've ever ran across on the web, and that is saying something. Good luck, man. I don't envy you your position in any manner.

Just got a PM from Thunderheart.
He said I made the Final three and that it was nothing personal. Also that if it opens again I should apply.

Was very cool of him to do that.

Sorry to hear the news but well done none-the-less Moge. Handled yourself very well with all those morons out there. Should things go sour for the new guy, hopefully you will re-apply.

Yeah, Thunderheart is cool. He and I talked for a while about all the DroidMaster stuff that was going on about a year ago, probably because I wrote the first DM manual. He listened to some of my gripes and told me he brought them up to the programmers. Very cool of him to do that.

I do think it's cool that we Avians really get invovled in alot of the background and design of the game.
