Well I wanna tell you about the first space quest that I failed.

I have finally become a 2222 Alliance pilot and was sent off to Dathomir for training there.

The first mission there looked pretty straightforward. Intercept the Shuttle, steal the codes, link up with another shuttle and give the codes, the dock with a capital ship and give the codes.

I went off in my Trustworthy Longprobe, the "Century Canary", the ship that took the place of my beloved Z-95, the "Decade Duck", and started shooting down the escort.

The "Decade Duck"

Two Tier 3 Interceptors and the Lambda itself. I usually have no problems with Tier 3 since I've beaten a few Tier 4's and a single Tier 5. (Though they've been beating the crap out of mee too.)
I downed the Squints (interceptors for non-X-wing series fans) and went on to disable the Shuttle.

Went for a head to head and shot it with my blasters in a 1-2 combi to get more hit in a short time. Then I suddenly realised that my forward shelds were failing and the shuttle tore my armor away as bullet shot through an egg.

I had very low forward shields and no armor up front so I initiated the emergency shield recharger.
Shields back I attacked it from the rear in hope for less laser cutting at me. Boy I was wrong.
I lost my front armor completely and my primary blasters were gone.
Other damage said:
Engines: 85%
Shields: 89%
Capacitator: 60% (!!)

So I went for an old and slow but realiable tactic. High-low side attacks.

Going from high rear port side of the shuttle to the low starboard end I blasted my way down and took out his shields.
Targeted his reactor and repeated that twice then he was still in space.

So far so good. Emergency repairs while waiting I got the capacitator up to 75%, but lost some on engines and shields.

Now I should escort him and I shuddered about the thought.
Got three incomming hostile fighters Two Eyeballs (standard Ties) and one Squint. All Tier 3.

Now I just wanted to complete the mission I went for a desperate tactic.
Only disable not destroy the fighters! I went for the Squint and targeted his engines and blasted with my weak Mark II Sienar blasters at the fighter till it was still. but before that happened I got three more incomming fighters, same configuration.

With more luck I managed to keep the shuttle alive and I blasted the rest of the fighter for full since I had a rendevous point before the rest of the action.

My status was no armor front, half in rear, shields at 60%, capacitator at 45%. I waited a little to recharge the shields and blasters then I went off for the RP.

I was relived at the RP since I only had to dock with the shuttle waiting for me. And no hostile were nearby. Docking complete I went to the next RP.

On the way I was intercepted by three fighters. Now two Squints and one Eyeball. Tier 3. As I started to fight them three more came in so I was againts four Squints and two eyeballs. Tier 3 all of them.

I was nervous and wanted to finish the mission so I raced for the RP with full boosters, which oddly hadn't any damage at all.
When the RP was only 500 meters away I was intercepted by three more fighters.

My brain went numb and I didn't know what to do. Six fighters tearing down my rear shields and armor and three up front with no protection.
In an instant my engines died, my capacitator was gone and the reactor didn't react anymore.

A voice in my ear just screamed: "Punch out!" and so I did.

[Edit:] The last time I played it I got further. I got to meet the gunboat.

I got this far...

I think that was my first serious spanking at 2222, as well. Obo gave me a lot of help when I first started... but I needed some assistance to get through that level.
