Added Daish and Dragon. It's simply a usergroup there. Main point of it is so we can get a free PA hall whenever it goes live. Having a group there is part of the requirements.

The current build, which is minimal, is going Open Source next weekend. It's not a "playable" version, but it will open the gates to more programmers to take a peek and help. I'm sure there's a few Avians here that might be able to help in the effort.

Assuming this goes, there are rumors in the air that SOE maybe trying to "buy out" the emu guys (See announcements at forums.swgemu.com) if you need another guild member I would be willing to join.

conmcb25 at those forums.

Yeah, I've been following the discussions. A lot of speculation and rumor being generated from the polls at swgemu.com

http://forums.swgemu.com/viewtopic.php?t=4030
http://forums.swgemu.com/viewtopic.php?t=4032

I'm torn about how I feel about that if it does become reality. Part of me hates it because we'd lose the community driven development aspect it has now. The potential freedom for custom quests, items, etc. And I have never been treated so bad as a customer than by SOE.

But the realistic side of it is this is the only way this version on SWG will take flight and support the size of commununity we want. Stability, power, access. Things many private servers will struggle with.

Really, at this point, I just want Pre-CU fast and hard.

Those threads seem to be speculation for the most part, as you've stated. Personally I can see how it would be extremely tough for the emu developers to get it back up, as it seems they are creating most of the code to get systems back up anyhow.

If they did turn it over to SOE, and i'd have to pay for the sub again, then I wouldn't go for it.

Tetran wrote:

Right, but that's what that emu community wants, I think even the devs are in that mindset. That's probably why they are even considering working with SOE. I'm pretty much cool with it taking them as long as they need, and checking back occasionally to see if they finished. If they don't ever get it up, oh well, it'll never be the same anyhow.

Well, looks like we'll have something very soon. It won't be PreCU though.

http://forums.swgemu.com/viewtopic.php?t=5146

Looks like the current mind set is to get a working CU EMU out surprisingly soon. Apparently, it's already working. It will be an appetizer to satiate the masses until they can figure out the PreCU code.

I guess something is better than nothing. But I hope they don't lose focus on the real goal of PreCU, and not spend too much time bug fixing the CU Emu.

Interesting, I didn't look around too much, but how are the other systems working? Houses? Towns? Bazaar? or do you think it will be FPS in SWG-land?

The reason I even ask is that their old list of "to-do's" listed combat functionality first, then the other systems as time goes on.

As far as I know, it'll be complete. The combat reworking was for a preCU environment. That was the kicker. Getting packet logs from back then is a needle in the hay stack. For a CU game, they've got it.

After a big set back with the original Core, they've been working away at Core2 in silent for awhile. It looks like they hit a few things out last night. Much needed news as community morale has been getting low.

Ok, you're added to the group now.

FYI, next weekend on the 16th, there's a tentatively scheduled stress test of the newest server being designed to run the swgemu. I'll post more when it comes out.

Tetran's the expert, but as far as I know it is Pre-CU and JtL is possible if you got it.

Here's the easiest set of instructions to follow. Basically just reinstall the client, get the patches from the links up to patch 13, download the emu client files, modify a text file and you're off. It's a lot easier than it sounds. I'll try to be available tonight if anyone needs help on my yahoo IM (scot740@yahoo.com). I'm in the dev channel for the emu guys so I'll keep you posted of any changes.

For those of you who only have the cd's and dont have the patches up to date like myself... you can get them all here... make sure you get ALL of them:

Full Download Torrent: For those of you who like torrents and want all the files that are posted on here in a quick way without downloading each of them seperately use this link: http://isohunt.com/release.php?ihq=swge ... 1&id=56281

Did that load test Azz mentioned happen? I'm loaded, patched and ready to go, but never saw the servers come online.

Yup. I think the magic number this time was 478 players in the Dant MO, all fighting, little to no lag, and only a few disconnects all running on one box. Not too shabby :) There will be another one soon, and some smaller unannounced ones as well.
