Thought I'd do a little traveling tonight for fun..

Visit historic Tusken's Bane... before anything!

Image

Or scenic Avian City....where the cantina was..

Image

Jabba's away.. may as well dance..

And test your skills in the deadly DWB!

You know, I didn't even look at the armor stats. I've got 3 sets of mando and 1 set of RIS in my inventory. I just fire off some @giveitem macro's to get what I want for appearance.

We've got the only operational public combat build over at spraticnet.com right now, since Ultyma/Taneas is an old Chilastra player. It's buggy as heck since it's running on their Core1 build. But, specials, flying text, and targeted HAM damage are functional now.

I checked out the Emperor's Retreat last night. I had actually never been there before lol. It was fun going around to old locations for those pics. They are actually accurate. For he Avian City pic, I found the cantina waypoint in an old post. I just @warp to where ever. The Tusken's Bane photo is taken just a few meters NE of the shuttle port.

Oh and Cord, There's several test servers up. Best thing to do is download a tool called Jump to Freedom. If you go to the spraticnet.com's forums, under the Test Center forum, you'll see a stickied JTF thread. It's an awesome tool that lets you added as many emu servers as you like and connect to them through that interface.

I kind of stopped following this when I started playing EVE but its good to know they are making progress.

The last time I logged into a server none of the specials, flying text, and targeted HAM damage was working on any of the servers.

(I got the "Jump to Freedom" tool ;) )

Here's a great video to celebrate the anniversary of the NGE, and showcase some new breakthroughs in the Emu.

They are doing a great job with the combat side of the emu...and I think it's great...

But I know some of you are thinking this as well...what about crafting...and houses...

excellent video. If I wasn't just so totally turned off by anything SWG I would give it a try.

Vendors are now working, and it's said that crafting is done as well.

I really just cant see myself playing it again accept for memory sake, I miss the times we had ingame there were some fun ones... I miss crafting my armor and playing around with it. But I honestly cant see myself expending the time required to get to where I was back then ever again.

I want to be able to get into the Emu so bad...but I think back on the things that made and broke SWG...and it wasnt just the DEV's craptastic changes or Jedi, it was lack of content and our amazing community.

Face it SWG was a sandbox it was only good while we were all involved, once you figured out the systems it was easy Aeric and I could pump out armor like you wouldnt believe, why was that? It was because we spent a lot of time looking for resources and stock piling excessive amounts of them. It was because we knew how the experiment system worked and how to use it to our advantage, it was the result of spreadsheets we created out side of the game figuring out what the exact requirements we need for 100+ suit runs etc... Armor crafting was fun for a long time but at somepoint you look at the work you did and the money you made and you wonder what now? You buy tapes for other people, throw money around on auctions for kryat tissues, and other random goodies. But the Combat system wasnt particularly exciting so that wasnt even worthwhile... Maybe im just getting old...

k sorry for that long rant/trip down memory lane...

I hear ya. I often wonder the same thing. Right now, I think I'll be able to get back into it again, actually, I'm pretty sure. How long will that last? Who knows. What I do know is the offerings currently out there for MMO's are horrible. At least this will be free and no pressure to play and get your money's worth. My biggest challenge I think will be scrounging together enough people I played with in the past. Other than CoH/CoV there's not much left and I can't play another fantasy game. I even bought Neverwinter Nights 2 and can't get started on it due to elf burnout.

Is that an estabilshed diagnosis? :P I'd love to play some more NWN2 (haven't even got to Neverwinter yet, but then I didn't even manage to get to Baldur's Gate in Baldur's Gate!) just don't seem to have the time at the moment. Plus there's the fact that I should really have a job by now, and so the playing games just makes me feel too guilty! :P

BTW do they have the JtLs part in the game?
That was the part of the game I preferred...

They've obviously put a lot of time and effort into the emu and I happy for their success. I laughed out loud as they popped up Smed quotes early in the movie. :)

From what I understand, JTL has been done for quite awhile. Reason being JTL was never changed. The packets being collected in the live game are the same as they were pre-cu as far as JTL is concerned.

And yes, elf burnout is a clinical term

I remember it working last time I used the EMU, about 2 months ago, but there were no "skins" on any of the objects, so I was in space with all the objects have the "?" mark on the them for lack of graphic to use.

I may or may not go full scale with the EMU, but if all the systems are working, I'll definately come load it up and come by now and then (especially with the free thing goin)

Just another update to their run-up to Christmas news...

Working Trainers. I know, not as sexy as some other news but the little things count!

http://www.swgemudev.com/videos/swgemu-npctrainer.wmv

From what I've heard through some people close to the project, the latest server core (core3 for those playing along at home) is working out nicely. It's been difficult to crash, unlike the previous versions.

We might be looking at a release in the very near future.

Nice news Tetran. I am seriously thinking of playing this a bit once out. The price tag sure works.

But one question, who is that noob typing in spatial in that last pic? :P

hehe.. that was one of the emu devs, most likely Ultyma/Taneas.

I really hope it becomes a reality (looking more and more that way every week), and enough of you guys fire it up again. If not, I'll be hanging with Cos, Joober, and a few other oldies in MAG. Avian is more my style. 8)

CORE3, the latest and greatest server is in closed testing currently, with a beta test in the near, near future. Many devs over at eXile are included in the closed testing. Apparently it's been running for a couple days with no crashes. So far so good!

In other news, the eXile guys have set up a WoW emulator to pass the time. I'm not sure if they're going to be insta-leveling anyone to 60 right now. But, it's free and a nice distraction if you want to play a little WoW to pass the time. PM me for details to create an account or visit the forums there for access.
