If SWG was first released today, with the way it s is right now, would people jump all over it? or would everyone pass because, as an MMO it's no good?

I'd think people would definitely pass on it as a buggy, unfinished, mmo. I'm sure a lot of people would also cry out " a Star Wars MMO and this is it?!"

Sure a bunch of folks would try it, and unless you were 13 years old or below, you probably would stick much past the 30 days free with purchase.....................

i wasn't around before it got screwed, and a little while ago i got a free trial for it, took me about 30mins to realise i would not play this game for long, and had a total of 2 hours before finishing the trial(by reaching level 5, which(appearently) was the time you were supposed to leave the noob thingy)

based of my trial experience, i would say it wasn't worth more then a 3 out of 10...

its just crappy

With the passage of time, I wonder if this game will go down as the biggest MMO heist, scam, debacle, etc in history. I'm sure there are others that spent a lot of time in development and were never released that would vie with SWG for this dubious award, but I'm hardpressed to think of one. I mean you've got Earth and Beyond but much wasn't necessarily expected of this game and it just died after a year or two.

SOE should be prosecuted for misconduct, negligence, and buffoonery on a MMO-cidal scale.

I don't know.
What made me involve in MMOs in the first place was SWG. Because of Starwars, doh.
What the game looked like it was going to be was interesting and, despite all its shortcoming, its emptiness, etc, the game at release still showed some promise. It all went wrong really when Raph Koster left the ship. From then on it was a downward spiral.
On this day, with the MMO knowledge I have, now working in the industry, there's no way I would play a game like this when I look to the competition.

Yeah, if the game came out now I'm sure I'd blindly leap in. Polished or not, most MMO's grab me for some time. The first 6 months or so of SWG was great.

I think it all went wrong well before Raph jumped ship. It started to go bad when they tied Raph's hands and started telling him he couldn't do what he was planning for the game.

If the game came out the way Raph wanted it too most players would still be unhappy with the final product, but it would at least be a playable game, and most of us would still be in it.

Sony has a nack for FUBARing everything they touch.

It went wrong with grinding for holocrons. SOE looked at the data and read: "Many players are getting holocrons, therefore many players want to be Jedi".

That was a miss read of the data. Many players were getting holocrons because it was the only challenge in the game at the time. Players wanted challenge; unlocking Jedi was the only challenge in the game.

SOE continued to discount the opinions on the forums and make their own conclusions from interpreting game data. I think time and time again they miss interpreted the data pulled out of the game.

If the game were left.. untouched, as it was in the middle Beta testing period.. when everything was working... I would still be playing...

If I was still getting "Industrialist" XP, hehe... running my manufacturing facilities and such... pimping around Avian City...

If it released in its current form, I never would have met any of you folks... still not sure if thats a good or bad thing though........ HAHAHAH !!!!!
