Currently playing this particular emu lation server.
https://swgr.org/pages/about/

It's late-era CU emu server, with all expansions included, with elements of NGE.
32 professions is in the game. (As opposed to the 39 that the O.G. SWG had)
I have yet to figure out everything, as I've only played for about 1½ hour.

For those of us, who were old-school members, with access to the private forum boards, Cetera made a discord some 3 years ago, which have a very small core group of us in there.
http://www.avian-gamers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=20818

I am - with this post - trying to make a small recruitment drive to those of us, who misses the old days.
I am also trying to rile up Cetera, Antan (X2-PB) and BigYak in the discord to consider this aswell.

Just thought it could be nice to have a small recruitment drive of 9-12 people. More of possible.
So we could go in like-minded groups of 3 and power-level through the different professions, then report back.

So...
As far as I've gleamed from the site and the game...

It started with a NGE base of the game, and they have been reverting to CU type here and there.
Main skills are still trees on professions. (Pre-CU & CU style)
Image

Then there are secondary professions, which are line-skill based. (NGE Style)
Image

Hence they're saying 32 professions rather than 39 profession.
That's because 7 of them are secondary, pilot being among them.

From a technical point of view, this particular private emu-server, runs fine on Win10.

And there are modern resolutions, such as 1080p, which can be seen in the screenshots posted so far.

I have set everything to max as well.

Pro-Tip.
Remember to fix the FOV slider.
Otherwise you ahve a 50 degree FOV.

So far I've only been to Mos Eisley (starter town), Mos Espa (Rebel Pilot trainer) & Anchorage (Rebel recruiter).

Mos Espa & Anchorage seemed a bit empty, population-wise, but all the quest givers and mission terminals are present as far as I can see.
Mos Eisley is full of NPC toons, giving it tons of life.

And there are always people on the server and Mos Eisley cantina usually have some entertainers and healers.
(Also... CL 22-47 stormtroopers by main entrance)

Now this is a plus from the dev team. To avoid hyper-inflation, they are chasing AFK farmers and you can see that in pricings.

In addition: Each account is only allowed 2 toons. 3 if you unlock a Jedi. 4 if you unlock something else. So max 4*.

Having hit a couple of snags.
One, I made my rebel pilot, because I wanted my sweet, sweet X-Wing again (I am still a decent pilot in the Z-95, can go 1 vs 7 Tier ones - though I have to land and repair afterwards).

But... in order to be rebel pilot, you need to be... a rebel.
And there are stormtroopers everywhere.
And I can't remember how to go covert. xD

And the other snag...
Forgotten that all SWG economy is player-driven. No NPC places to sell things.
So I have to go to a Bazaar terminal, to sell my loot.
And again... Stormtroopers everywhere. Even on Rebel hot spots, such as Anchorage.

I better make a new toon.
A neutral toon.

Though I am going to test and see if I can leave the rebel faction (which is very possible, as far as I can see from old SWG players guides).
However, I wonder if my faction standing sticks and I will still be attacked by NPC stormtroopers and sandtroopers, when wandering the cities.

After 5 minutes of requesting leave, I can confirm that it works.
Stormtroopers are now ignoring me.

Having looked through the galaxy-wide bazaar for Rebel ship blue prints, I can conclude... that a Rebel Ship-wright is needed, because I can't get a hold of a y-wing.

Gonna look for blueprints now.

Nope.
The chassis ARE blueprints.

Had forgotten about the vendor tab in the bazaar menu.
Found a shipwright about one klick away from Mos Eisley.

I can definitely say, that SWG as an anachronistic MMO today, had a whole different player experience that MMO's of today.

As in... it is far more socially dependent that other MMOs on the market, where you can in WOW, STO & TOR play the game completely solo from the get go.
Not to say that SWG doesn't allow you to do that, but the grind is massive.
There is a huge benefit to play with others, especially when you want to progress.

Now... I know I am just doing what is considered secondary with the JtLs, but that is what I really liked about the game.
And even with that starter ship, which is Tier 1, I am doing better than the Tier 2 Y-Wing, against Tier 3 enemies. (I can go against three Tier 3 solo so far, but then I need repairs).
But I cannot help but think that it'd be a lot easier if I had some wingmen.

And when you go to the ground combat and mission, doubly so.
Using a beginner carbine, with no abilities apart from 1-1-2-3 on the marksman tree, it's still somewhat of a chore.
Again... if one had a posse to go along.
