Found a new webgame that's somewhat interesting. It doesn't make a lot of sense at first, but the more I've played it, the more I think I understand what makes it work. Anyway, here's the synopsis from the Newbie Guide.

Quote:
The Games

There are a number of games running at any time, with the same basic idea but some different strategies. ..... You want the public to vote for you, and the more points you have, the more votes you will get. Points are mostly based on:

* Your trust score
* Your charisma score
* Your integrity score
* How close your opinions are to the public's

These also make a difference and are more advanced strategies:

* Your morals
* Your financial planning
* Your religious approval.
* How many of the country's signs are yours.

The Vote

Every hour on the hour the public, run by the computer, will vote on the players in the game. Players with enough points will get a number of seats, depending on how the others are doing and how long the game has been running. Other things that happen every hour on the hour include:

* You get money, depending on your trust and number of seats
* If you have hired advisors, they will affect your scores hourly
* If you buy technologies many of them function hourly
* Sometimes random events will occur

Cash Flow

Every hour you will get an amount of money depending on how much trust you have, how many seats you get in the vote, and how much (if any) you are paying advisors. This will naturally increase as time goes on.

Winning

To win a game, a party has to pass a law called the Enablement Act that outlaws all opposing parties. This usually happens 1 to 2 months into a game. Although winning a game gets prestige and respect, being ranked highly at game end is at least as valued, especially in the top 5.

Anyway, if you want to play... join in at: http://www.alteringtime.com/asylum/

I'm playing in the two "Asylum Squared" games. Try it out and see if you like it.

It's a very slow game. Looks like you could probably on log in twice or maybe once a day and still be alright.

Figured out the best way to make money i've found so far, is to upgrade your Religious Meeting Place, which upgrades the rate at which you produce idols. Idols can then be sold in batches of 100. The downside to selling idols is that some of the religious factions favor people who stockpile them.

Im in, Same game as Golga in fact, but I dont know how to progress. I have an advisor and bought a couple of the $1000 upgrades but no stats have gone up and nothing really has changed. Maybe I just have to let it take more time. But does anyone know how to get seats?

yeah.. I've been in for about 4 days I think, and still don't have any seats. From what I can tell, your signs are one of the biggest things that will earn you points, and the more points you get, the better the chance of you getting seats.

To get signs, you gotta upgrade, and to upgrade you need cash, and to get cash you gotta sell idols and stuff. It's a complicated game and not very self-explanatory. On top of that, it moves slow as hell. This is a game where you might log on maybe once a day.

you know, once we get further into this game, if the 3 of us joined forces into the same party, we'd own this game. that might be sweet.

Ya my trust went up 23pts in 24hrs but my charisma and integrity suck. How do you get pts? I see people are passing me in pts now but other stats are lower than mine.

If we all joined Golga's party, we'd be tied for 1st place. Think it would be a good idea?

heh.. golga is threatening to win this game all by himself!

the other two games I'm in aren't going so well. I got in late, and so I haven't been able to get any seats at all yet.

I think there is a long way to go before this game is won. Dunno, just my feeling. I think the switch parties thing is probably something to swing the tide just prior to a vote then a let's hold hands and march over everybody kind of thing.

So now what? I'm winning, but until boredom gets near 200 I don't think there's much point in calling a vote.

Do I get more money being in the lead? Or is it just my trust that increases my income?

My income is now $1031 (in the main easy epic game we are playing). What's yours?

My trust is 92 but im only getting 766/hr
I think it has a factor of trust, charisma, and integrity. People believe in you more so they donate more. Just a theory. Signs may even have a part in it.

You still need to get your power above 50 your only at 20 now.

Quote:
Introduce Enabling Act - Win the Game

This will propose a bill that, if passed, would make you the one and only power in South Tobadaland for life. It is a risky proposal, because if opposed, can do much damage to your image. The public's boredom level is 109, your trust is 94.5, and your party's power is 5.2%. If you have less than 90 trust, less than 50 power, and boredom is less than 200, your chances of passing this act are low.

Read it again Royur. It says If you have less than 90 trust, (and) less than 50 power, and boredom is less than 200, (then) your chances of passing this act are low. I have one, I can try with 2 depending on the numbers. If boredom is 300 I'd probably win with the current numbers.

is anyone else having trouble getting onto the site. I cant seem to get on. I hope the korean server hasnt blocked it like they do to so many other things.
And to you Golga I guess I was reading it a differnt way. I saw it as you need all 3. Because getting trust above 90 was easy and boredom we have no control over (maybe) so you needed to have atleast 50% of the seats to have a majority to pass your bill. Also this is why I see games taking up to a few months.
