Post subject:  Yahoo Racing Mgr. GTR Moon Base - Avian Racing Combo thread

Since we discussed it before and the new season is fast approaching, I broached the subject with Moon @ Green Team Racing about combining our teams into a more powerful unit. She is keen on the idea. She would like to keep the stats on the Green Team website. She is willing to rename the team to prominently incorporate the Avian name. I think it's a great idea. If we can agree to go I will be quitting the Avian Team and encouraging everyone else to do the same. The new team would be called, GTR Avian Moon. I like it because it sounds like a named full moon like Harvest Moon or Hunter's Moon, she likes it because she has raised a couple of pet birds.

I don't want to put words in her mouth because she will likely chime in here anyway.

So how about this idea?

We will also put a direct link to this forum on the GTR forum and pop your logo with a link on the main website if you like.

Come on guys, this is a great game you can play in a few minutes a day, without any sound waking up your kids or alerting your boss. We're gonna stay with it for at least one full season, aren't we?

I'm in, and Z-byrd will likely go this direction too, since we were already discussing it.

Moon, is it possible to persuade many of your members to apply for Avian membership as well, and we can more or less make GTR Avian Moon a sub-guild of Avian and truly have a full blown merger? You can still host the stats and everything, and keep your site the same. All we would have here is a forum called "GTR Avian Moon" and an announcement sticky with the link to your site.

I'm not sure about persuading our members to join the Avian forum as a lot of them don't even post in the GTR forum  but you're free to advertise on the GTR forum at any time.

At the moment Green Team Racing and GTR Moon Base are sharing the same threads for setups - although when Season 9 begins, we will be giving it its own separate section for your ease. Please bear in mind that GTR Moon Base was started up as an overflow/holding group for GTR and teams may be leaving GTR Avian Moon to join Green Team Racing should spaces become available.

GTR Avian Moon (currently GTR Moon Base until the new season) is group 55,662.

Ok Moon should form the new team when ready, or just rename it, not sure which needs to be done. I am kicking everyone out of the old team. i will post a message there with the new team # so apps can be put in now. Might as well get this show on the road.

Does anybody have any ideas for a new motto to go with the new name?

Moon, you are right! I entered six teams because I'm "sleeping" three for next season and plan to alternate with three teams on, three teams off.

By the way, I think it's cool that your name is Moon because that happens to be my last name in "real life."

Who, indeed!

I started my online life as Moonchild due to my date of birth. Everybody else shortened it to Moon (easier to type) so I shortened it too. Also, I'm 37 so it made more sense to drop the child! (Although I'm still very much in touch with my inner one :D )

Anyway, Mr. Moon, you now have a personalised YRM Group - Far Out! 8)

Moon, I ain't no Pinball Wizard, but I believe you belong to My Generation.

I Can See For Miles, and the Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades.

How many rounds do you guys usually go between pit stops?

Author:  tobiasds [ Thu Nov 25, 2004 5:56 pm ]
Post subject:

I divide the race into 3 equal segments, so I pit twice, this week at laps 18 and 37. Two pit strategy seems the best as it is a good balance between fuel load and stopping during a race. Two pit strategy is used by everyone at GTR, I think.

Author:  madmike [ Fri Nov 26, 2004 11:16 am ]
Post subject:

I use 2 stops for almost all the races. For more info check out, http://www.moonworld.co.uk/gtr/forum/index.php?showtopic=36
and also on the GTR site there is http://www.moonworld.co.uk/gtr/tracks.htm If you click on a track, in the bottom right hand side are suggested pit-stop laps from real F1 races, I use these most of the time.

Author:  Moon [ Fri Nov 26, 2004 1:29 pm ]
Post subject:

I use 2 or 3 stops, depending on where I am on the grid. If I'm really low down I will use 3, with short first and last stints. :D

Author:  tobiasds [ Fri Nov 26, 2004 1:41 pm ]
Post subject:

I will be more careful checking the pit strat as I didn't believe that 3 pits was ever a viable strategy.

Author:  mudcrow [ Fri Nov 26, 2004 5:27 pm ]
Post subject:

I always use two stops.
Unless you have a very fast car, I can't see that 3 stops can be viable.
It takes 20-25 seconds to make a pit on average. Thats a lot of time to make up in a race.

just fyi on my status Newish/oldish computer is back online so I will be jumping back into racing as soon as I can

When it gets to the point where we have more people joining who are racing, we'll start up a new group and put all the sleepers in there :D

In one race a few seasons ago, I was 18th on the grid, did a 3 stopper and came 3rd 8)
