Since it looks like I will be the resident hauler for a while - which is fine by me really - I went ahead and started training up for the tractor beam. This allows the slow hauler to beam cargo containers to the ship from 20k away. With this I should be able to entry the area, beam the cargo and head directly back to port (which I have a perfect Bookmark for). This will save me tons of time chugging from container to container.

The beam however costs 1million ISK. For this Im asking a little help. I'm willing to pay for 50% of this, as it is saving me the time, but I would like fellow Avians to help chip in the extra 500k. If you are willing please just send Moniker some ISK ingame with a note saying that you did so that I can keep track.

Thanks all!

Sent that 500k.

I'm up to 5 mining lasers now. And training for electronics 4. I figure I'll go the electronics/lower CPU route... and maybe branch into research/science later.

Then again, I can fit about 7 gatling guns on this destroyer, and am itching to try them out on some pirates.... ;)

lol well I just sent YOU 733,000 ISK for the mining we did today with Dais. I shleped it all over to the other station and sold it for 10.2 instead of 9.2 ISK

I now have more than enough for the tractorbeam. I should be able to get it by 5pm tomorrow.

I also switched back to my frigate. It is smaller, faster and yields only about 100 units less than my destroyer which has 2 more laser than the frigate does. That frigate has incredible mining bonuses so it just makes since to keep using that. It even has a drone bay.

If I where to do it again I would go Caldari destroyer. But as of now Im seriously looking at Armarr Battleships as my endgame mining vessel.

Anyone yet know the difference between a skill rank and a skill level?

Training up to Cruiser 3 over the next couple days (takes almost 2 days :( ). I'm going for the Minmatar Rupture class...

I was thinking of doing a hybrid load out of partial miner and partial weaponry - not sure if its feasible / wise.

Moge - what's the config of your frigate (l, m, h points)? If the cruiser doesn't work out as a hybrid maybe I'll load out my frigate as a mining vessel.

Lanasa I think my frigate is 2H 4M 2L. Im sure on the H,L but the M may be only 3. Not sure.

Remember, you can have several loadouts for each ship. There is no skill cap. In theory you can have 2 frigates in your base. One as a miner one as a combat.

Moniker is thechnically a combat build but she is also gaining Hauler skills. So if someone attacks one of her containers she can go, get her missle frigate and blow that person to bits.

That is one of the amazing things in this game. It is very much a build your own character. No limitations but time.

Trade Routes. Hmmmmmm

I'm really starting to like the idea of mining/transporter.

Yak, you mentioned wanting to build things. This was an interesting quote. I need ot read more on production customizations.
Quote:
The Custom-Made Ships and Enhancements

Apart from the main ships of each race, there are many corporations in Eve that manufacture ships. These may be the orthodox ships, or ships that are modified to make them more spacious, speedy, or lethal, according to the requirements of the customers.

Also, this quote caught my attention.

Quote:
The Lure of Processed Ore

Processed ore is much more valuable than unprocessed ore. So logic will tempt you to sell the more valuable material. It will ideally net you more money. Theoretically this is spot on, but in a practical sense it isn't. Unless your mining skill is something to brag about, and if you process the ore yourself. Inexperienced miners, with no processing facility of their own, will end up with a lot of garbage, and very little sellable material. Second, processing the ore yourself will squander a resource far more precious to you than any bagful of ISK - your time. The processing is far more feasible for group miners though.

Yak and Moge, where's your base of operations these days? Or are you operating out of Avian Home station?

Also I do have an interest in building things. Really need to find the time to work up some ISK. I still owe Moge for my Merlin (which, insidentally, I'm not actually able to fly yet!)

My ships go where the Ore is. So right now we are in the Lumiere Sector. Once I get more skills I'll move to a system with Plagablahblahblah but for now Scordite seems to be the way to go.

i started mining plagioclase...its volume is a bit higher: .35, but it sells for 20.1 ISK...

its in oursulaert V AB 1

edit: i was only selling my scordite for 9.2 ISK

the volumes, time, etc...i think the scordite is still more efficient, especially since you all were getting 10+ / unit.

Anyone do the kill the rouge drone agent mission? How easy is it to track down the drone?

Author:  bigyak [ Wed Dec 21, 2005 9:41 pm ]
Post subject:

X2, it's pretty easy if you have 2 guns. Make sure you have plenty of ammo, and only take on the groups of 3 that are together at a time.

is it obvious where they are located?

No, though I mentioned it in the thread at the top... it's got a lot of other useful stuff, too.

On the drone missions, you have to fly to the Acceleration gate, then right click on it and start the gate. It'll fly you into the zone area.

There's a whole series of the drone mission that get progressively harder (I just did the third). Fun for target practice. Silly drones.

I wasn't refering to the drone swarm missions.

When you do the tutorial, you get a tutorial agent, that agent then refers you to a second agent. That agent send you on a bunch of carrier missions and then you get a mission for which the reward is an implant. For me that is to go track down a rouge drone and destroy it. The trouble is (and I haven't actually run the mission yet) that the way point given is just to a single solar system and so I was wondering if actual tracking of the drone was required (using sensors and the like) or whether and updated WP is given to an exact location?

no, that waypoint once you get in the system will essentially update and when you go left click it again...it'll say warp to location.

Oh that's good, I was wondering how on earth I would manage to track it down in the 3 hrs require for the bonus payout!

Well, I'm on my way to register with the corp. Was hoping to do some mining with Yak or Moge, but neither seem to be around :(

EDIT: I've registered with the corp, just need acceptance now.

Man, I just got annihilated by an Amarr Customs Ship. I was carrying a Minmatar totem that I'd been given as a gift for some agent work I'd done. That's the only thing I can think of for why I just got creamed...i lost a fully loaded destroyer worth probably 40-50 million ...and of couse its the one ship i hadn't insured yet. You get a 300k payout if you are uninsured, plus a new starter vessel. UGH!

Zoinks!!

Note to self, don't take those agent gifts around.

I was noticing that there are a number of skills that help you smuggle goods, and even some implants that increase your perception (and also reduce smuggle detection chance). Very nice.

That, and a fully functional player mission and bounty system make it a pretty well build game.

you can example any object and it will say if it is contraband in any sector. Sucks that a gift would do that though :(

Oh and this thread needs moving to the forum :)

There is an option on the map to show which systems your cargo is illegal in.
