ok...... Once you have made a decent amount of money at mining, it's time to look at refining.

Refining makes mining a LOT more effecient than I had ever hoped.

We'll use 1 million units of omber as the example.

The best price you can hope to get for regular omber is generally 65 IPU and that is still hoping for a lot. At this price 1 million units of omber will fetch you......

65,000,000 ISK.
And will take up 600,000m3 cargo space.

It will also take a hauler with 12,000m3 cargo capacity 50 trips to take it to the location insane enough to pay 65 IPU for omber.

With good enough standing at a station and just Omber processing 2 you can get 3 resources from omber. Tritanium, Pyerite and Isogen. 1 million units yields you.......

613,900 Tritanium (6,139m3)
245,900 Pyerite (2,459m3)
613,900 Isogen (6,139m3)

On average you can get 1.5 IPU for Tritanium, 4 IPU Pyerite and 110 IPU for Isogen.

That's......
920,850 ISK for the Trit.
983,600 ISK for the Pyr.
67,529,000 ISK for the Isogen.

or 69,433,450 ISK which is better than selling the omber at 69 IPU.

And best of all this could all be hauled away in 2 trips by a hauler with 12,000m3 capacity. 1 trip if you leave behind the tritanium.

And when you only have to make one trip to sell you can go farther for the best prices and you still will have more time left over to mine like a maniac.

Minus the Tritanium, Pyerite and Isogen we'd use on the Battleships, the remaining funds from such a sale would still be enough to purchase the remaining resources to produce a single battleship.

So how long does it take to mine 1 million units of omber? Well, providing that there is omber available to mine, I can generally mine 20-25k omber an hour all by myself. More if someone else hauls for me. Give a group of us a couple good days and we can rake in most of what we need in maybe 8 hours combined mining.

One complete field in Aice generally holds 50-80k Omber. Enedore is about the same, but there are more fields. I assume the other systems within 1 jump of Aice have fields equally rich.

Everyshore replenishes it's resources every Tuesday and Thursday. Should we manage to have people on these nights we could clean up the fields in and around Aice in short order I believe.

Refining rocks!!!!!!

LA -

I lack excell so I cannot use all the cool spreadsheets. I am trying to get a number and hope you can help.

Lets assume I have:
refining V
Refining Eff II
Specialization II

How much Tritanium would I get per 333units of Veld, cond Veld or Dense veld?

Thanks

ok, I found a formula if you can check my math:
Veld 957
cond 1005
dense 1053 per 333units

Those numbers sound about right as long as you are at a 50% station or better. (I think the best station refinery is 55%) But you might have to also have the third box in refining effeciency. I know you don't need to have it to get the veld specialized refining, but you do for Omber specialized, so I had it when I started refining. SO I am not certain where the 0% waste starts.

But also remember that the station you are refining at takes a % of the refining cut too based on your standing with them. I think it is a base 4%, might even be base 5%.

Best I have been able to get so far is 1.77% at Aice II where I have a corp standing of 2.17 and personal Agent standings of 7.5 and 10.0

I do know that as long as you have a 50% station to refine at, there is no reason to go above the 2nd box in specilization. We tried and it doesn't produce any extra ore or reduce the stations cut.

The basic rule of thumb for the ores is that the base ore (Like Veldspar) produces minerals based on a multiplier (3.0 tritanium in Veldspar's case) and then the second grade produces 5% more (Concentrated Veldspar) and the third grade produces 10% more (Dense Veldspar)

Scordite produces 1.7 Tritanium and .4 Pyerite
Plagiaclase produces 1.25 Pyerite .4 Tritanium and .4 Mexallon (I think.)
Omber produces .62 Tritanium .62 Isogen and .25 Pyerite

Have no clue on any other resources as these are all the high sec resources.
