Ive been doing some combat with Moge to get his faction up and Iv been having quite a bit of fun.

Im at low level II missions now (thanks to Social III and Connections III) and the payouts are growing nicely.

Ive also been reading on eve-online.com that lvl IV missions can take up to 45min - 1hr to complete but often give 5-10mil in payouts, bonuses and bounties and that is without loot!

Ive started Moniker up the mission line as she is my combat player. Seems if you save up your Loyalty Points you can get nice implants and BPOs that sell for 30-100mil each - this is lvl IV missions.

Also, for you non-fighters. There are delivery missions that can pay 3-5mil per mission. You dont get any bounties from killing rats or any loot but you do get bonuses and Loyalty Points (implants and such).

So if you find yourself without anything to do train up Social and Connections (helps raise faction much faster) and start doing missions. It is said that the only reason to do lvl 1,2 and 3 missions is to get to Lvl 4 but once your there it is a hayday of ISK.

You can also team up, have 1 person do the missions and others just for loot collection (which does take a while) and other to help with extra guns. Lvl 1 missions are cake and lvl 2 are pretty easy if you have decent skills and a Cruiser.

People are doing lvl IV missions Solo in Battleships but I hav eread many posts about people doing lvl IV missions in Dreads

Could be a nice reason to get one 8)

I've been running a ton of level I missions with a quality 14 agent in my frigate. They usually don't take too long, and while the payoff isn't great, I've probably brought in a couple mil in two or three days. I'm working on getting to the level II agents in the corp. I didn't know about the social skills until just a short time ago, so I don't have much trained in them, but I'm working on it.

You do get a ton of loot doing combat missions, some of which is actually worthwhile for a frigate or a new cruiser. You can also refine the stuff and sell it. I think I made an additional 500,000+ from refining and selling loot and rewards from the combat missions over that same three day period.

Nice 3.5k post, Cetera!

I'm up to Level II, Agent -5... which gives about 400k ISK for a combat mission, and probably another 300k worth of loot.

Problem is, the missions are getting a lot harder. :) So, I've started improving my equipment. Shields, baby, shields!

Thank you, sir! I hadn't noticed.

Also, is a level I, quality 20 agent better than a level II, quality -16?

No. A Level II agent is always better than a Level I agent regardless of quality.

How difficult are level 2 missions usually? I started working with a -18 quality agent last night, and my first mission I nearly ended up losing my ship, twice.

I was supposed to go capture some kind of neuro-toxin stuff that had been stolen, and destroy the container ship's escorts. I jump in, and immediately have 6 ships blowing the hell out of me. In about 5 seconds, I had no more shields remaining, and was losing hull fast. I warped out, got repaired, warped back in, and started trying to pick them off from a ways out. They were much faster than my Caracal, though, and my four heavy missile launchers weren't doing enough damage. I killed two, had to warp out again, get repaired again, rest up my capacitor, and jump back. I finished that little skirmish with no shields, significant hull damage, and no capacitor energy left.

This was only the first part of the mission. I had to repeat this through four other WPs. It took me like an hour and a half to do one mission for 79,000 ISK. Is that normal for a low level 2? If it is, I can make money faster doing level 1s, or maybe find a transporting agent or something.

I donno when you should start doing level II combat missions.

I didn't start them till I was in my Battlecruiser and I have a lot of shield and missile skills.

I would not want to try many of the level II missions in a cruiser. Not even my snazzy Moa.

I plan on getting some good combat drones before doing level 2's

Those things can put a good hurting on ships...especially with the Gallente Vexor and that 10% increase on damage and speed :)

Reminds me that I don't think I reset my skills this morning...must go home for lunch and not lose 6 more hours :x

Get some shield extenders and a booster. It should be quite possible to do even Level III missions in a crusier. Once you're sure you have a better shield system, start thinking tactics. It's not enough to just go in there and try and blast them all apart. Set your orbit range for the optimum range of your guns (I assume you have guns as well as missles) if not, your missles, and keep that orbit distance. If your guns don't pack enough punch, consider getting better ones!

Having said all that, I haven't started Level IIs yet. But the player guide does say they can be completed in Frigates!

Yeah, I just need to refit some. I warp in from 40k away now, and lock on and fire from longer range. They are generally much faster, though, so its still difficult to keep at range. I'm just using four heavy missile launchers. I did have five, but I dropped one for a better shield boost that took more power.

79k for a level 2? That sucks mightily. I know you are using a very low agent but perhaps that is one of the lower paying jobs. One can only hope.

I'm doing level II combat missions that usually pay 400k per mission, with upwards of a mil of loot (on some missions). That's probably 1/5 of the missions.

Yeah, you need two of: a really good ship, really good skills/equipment, really good tactics.

I'm guessing Level III combat missions you need three of those things.

I've started using combat drones, as well (when I remember), and they help significantly, especially when I'm in a hurry and just warp into the middle of 20 angry ships.

If I ever have damage that takes out all my shields, I immediately warp out and reconsider my build/tactics.

yep lvl II is good pay, lvl III is very good pay and lvl IV is pretty damn amazing pay, granted lvl IV missions take 45min-2hours to complete but can pay upwards of 6mil a mission.

There is the possibility of doing missions as a group. One of us could take a Level IV mission and we all go out and do it. It would be much faster that way and you wouldn't need as good ships/skills but proper tactics would still be needed.

Running high level missions in a group is prolly an extreamly effective way to do them.

You really don't need great tactics if you have one good tank and a lot of people concentrating firepower.

yep, and with lvl IV bounties being what they are everyone makes a nice chunk of change.

Moniker is high lvl II right now so with a bit more Connections training and some missions she should be lvl IV within a few weeks. She is also building toward a shield tanker in a Ferox so she can tank if you all bring the pain!
