posted for those people who do not play or those who have not seen this posted by the devs ingame.

To show the size of a titan look at this image. The second largest ship is a dread those smaller ships are battleships

Quote:
FEYTHABOLIS. Yesterday at approximately 12:20 New Eden
Time, the Ascendant Frontier Alliance (ASCN) deployed the first
capsuleer owned and built Titan into the AZN-D2 system.

The Titan is the majestic Avatar of Amarrian design now named
CYVOK´s Avatar after its current pilot and one of the leading figures
who made the production possible. The launch is the result of 8
months of hard work and dedication of an entire alliance, at the cost
of over 160 billion ISK, as well as a sophisticated operation to keep
the construction site and its contents a secret. This included a "feint"
operation producing a smaller capital class vessel to throw off
potential attacks to the real construction site.

The accumulation of the vast quantity of minerals required to complete
construction was actually handled by refinery taxes, as well as mining
operations by ASCN member corporations, who were unaware what
the final objective was. Aside from the minerals the Avatar also
needed 16 component, 1 ship and 3 module Blueprint originals, all
blueprints combined made up for 93 billion of the 160 billion ISK total
necessary for the construction. The Titan itself was constructed in
secret, with only a small inner-circle of ASCN members aware of the
project.

When asked about this achievement, CYVOK, the leader and pilot of
the Titan, was quick to reassure that the entire alliance, one of the
largest in the cluster, had worked long and hard in order to achieve
the completion of the Avatar. The secrecy involved allowed the build
up and construction to take place without hostile intervention. CYVOK
explained, ‘Only 3 pilots knew about the details of the project, lots of
folk helped but they had no idea. We placed TONS of thought into
misdirection. Pilots were asked to do things for other "projects" they
had no idea it was all going to this one.’ Enemies of ASCN only came
close to finding out the construction site two weeks before the
completion of the titan.

The launch in AZN-D2 attracted a large group of pilots from both
inside and outside the ASCN alliance to witness the deployment of
this new vessel. ASCN members present in AXN-D2 during the
maiden flight were very happy that the Titan had been completed,
despite the veil of secrecy.

CYVOK commented, ‘The completion of the Avatar represents another
true first for New Eden brought forward by the hard work and
dedication of all the members of the ASCN & AXE Community.
Together there is no challenge we cannot accomplish. The face of
warfare in New Eden has just changed forever.’ !

hmm, so it's a unique player pilot'ed ship?

It looks...well...TITANISH! That would be a neat ship to pilot around.

yeah is it the true meaning of massive. It is larger than some space stations!

This is pretty much the endgame ship for corporations and an excellent ship to have if you are in a massive war. This is a ship that takes a special kind of pilot. Very few people are able to put in the work/time to pilot this ship. As a n00b pilot if you just trained all the learning skills and then only the basics to pilot a titan it would take over 290days! Add another 120days or so for the weapons and you have an idea of the level you need to be to pilot this giant.

While they typically have 7-8 weapon slots those weapons are typically to large to target small ships - and what isnt a small ship to a Titan? At best you can directly attack battleships and above but have zero hope of hitting cruisers, HACs and frigates, your support drew will need to handle those.

Titans are meant primarily as a support ship with gang modules, corp hanger and clone vat. However each race has a special doomsday weapon. This is a massive AOE weapon. If fired into your general direction you have almost zero hope of survival. Problem is it also hits your friends as well. With a reactivation delay of 3600sec you better make every shot count!

And then there is a cost. A carrier mothership costs a 2-3billion to buy and outfit. A Dread, maybe 1.5billion. A Titan can cost upwards of 100billion or more! This is a true endgame ship. However, what I like about it the most is that it is by no means an 'I win' button for a corp or alliance. In reality, no corp alone could build a Titan. It takes the joint power of an alliance to build, maintain and protect one of these things. Did I mention that a Titan cannot dock anywhere?

As you can see I really like these things. Moniker is specializing in piloting large ships and gang support. By Jan of next year I hope to have her piloting a mothership. Months after that I hope she will join a large alliance and be chosen to fly a Titan.

It's Unique in that it is the first built, but others will follow. :)

It is however the biggest ship in the game.....so far. A floating space station armed to the teeth with anti capitol ship weapons, doomsday devices and siege defences capable of tanking whole fleets of attackers.

oh I didn't know that that was the first one. Wow.

Seeing as how they have been ingame for many months now I assumed that others where out there, but that they were just rare in the making.

Given that, my dreams of piloting one seem to be near to none.

Did you read the part where is cost them 160 Billion isk to build and was a big clandestine project with decoy projects and such over a course of months? :)

Titans are elite of the elite. ASCN basicly has the capability to launch attacks deep into enemy space (Titans can take the fleets with them when they jump) and destroy starbases.

Major advantage ASCN right now.

This is what I like...end game content that can fundamentally alter the landscape (game) you play in without necessarily impacting you specifically...rather than end-game content that is just loot oriented where you slay something and you get a better, prettier version of something you already had and just impacts you.

When factional warfare is introduced, think of how this corp and ships like it could tilt the power balance in that regard too.

It's not the only titan out there, though. I believe BoB has a Titan and a few motherships, mostly won from tournaments held by CCP.

It's when looking at things like the Titan that you'd (or at least I'd) feel that the experience of obtaining and operating one would be so much more fulfilling if they were multiplayer ships.

Well they do plan to add the ability to leave you ship and move about stations. Maybe that will also include motherships and Titans.

As far as I understand it the Titans are weak against the TRD*. Could be fun to see alot of fighters picking off bits and parts of the ship.

In short a more Star Warsy Fighters vs. Star Destroyers battle if you catch my drift.

*TRD = "Trench Run Defence" - A maneuver made during battle of Yavin at 0 ABY. The maneuver means for the pilots to get so close to the battleship / station that the weapons cannot target the small ships.

BTW, which of the four races has the most Star Wars feel in terms of fighter battles and fighter design?

I donno, kinda reminds me of what I imagined the shield ship from the Thrawn Trilogy would look like. Yannow the one that took ships close to the sun where Lando's mining op was.

Well the design of the fighters don't really look Star Warsy in my Opinion.

But judge for yourself.
